Brilliant! Answers questions i've had for years not only for these rides but most rotary rides as to how they get their power. I suppose the same principle must be used on vehicle steering wheels that have lots of buttons on as well as powering the airbag.

Tires don't make that winding up sound ( like a HUSS) electric motor .so your answer is electric motor

Car steering wheels don't rotate infinitely, so they use a cheaper method of just having the ribbon cable do a few loops around the pivot so it can wind and unwind a bit
