One of the best farming channels available, very interesting to view the work occurring after harvest that leads up to next years harvest. The investment in machinery both on the land and in the stores must be colossal. You seem to have a very dedicated work force that appear flexible in work hours etc. Is the majority of imported grain sorted to such a standard.

James, your output on all aspects of the harvest is phenomenal, down to your knowledge of the grain, temperature, size, samples, and out going produce to miller's, and Electricity supplies, my Question is, what do you use the screening grain for, does it go for feeding on your own farm, or sent to animal feed, the oat, wheat, barley, pea screenings all go for livestock feeding, I worked in a milling company called Flavahans porridge oats, and animal feed, the hulls from the oats was used in animal feeding, your videos bring back memories of the 90's working there, with a great Team of people and the owners of the factory, thank you for these updates, the banter and craic are a bonus as usual, Michael power. portlaw, IRELAND [EIRE]

James, the story goes that when they were digging the ground down to make the pits for the long standing elevators at the factory in flavahans mills, 4 men were gone down about 12 feet or so and the 2 elderly owners called to look at the work carried out, the oldest man BUDDY, shouts down, for God sake, don't go to town[waterford], on the digging,, a man down in the pit replied, no sir, we will only go as far as the sweep, the sweep was about 6 miles from waterford city, the banter back then was even hilarious, just the same way that you are enjoying yours with your team, great videos every time James, would love to visit your business, and your daily running of the show, thanks James for the opportunity in looking at real men who know the ins and outs on harvesting Michael power, portlaw county Waterford, IRELAND [EIRE]

Gordon knows that machine inside out 👍🏼 it was fascinating to listen to both of you explaining the whole process. Does the bad seed get incinerated ? Does the rejected seed that's not the best quality go for animal/chicken feed ? Or is it what I buy to put in my bird feeder ?

Can you do a video on how you manage pest control, i imagine its hard to keep control of birds and rodents with so much food available to them. Love your focus on efficiency through every facet of your operations from sowing through to haulage, you can see how you have engrained it in the company culture when employees talk on camera. Once you have the right culture your company will flourish as is evident from your videos. Kudos to you sir for an impressive operation

Would the grain industry consider an 'industry name' or 'industry abbreviation' for ergot? (Maybe REG, reject ergot grain?) In Farming/ woodlots/ forests, when the media gave 'outdoor' mushrooms a bit of hype, there was an increase in the number of mushroom hunters in the countryside. Solar batteries - just get something small for starters. Polarium, Tesla Powerwall 3 etc. It would keep some lights on, run an office etc.
@jonathanwhitbread76522 ай бұрын
… try a battery storage unit for overnight electricity usage from your solar … just be careful what batteries you use in your battery storage system. Liaise with your commercial insurer … they might insist your battery storage is away from buildings. Also think about installing wind turbines as this balances out the lack of solar in the winter …

James Interesting that you get so many claims (2 on the day of the video). As a farmer you tend to know if your crop has issues. But quite often you get claims that you know are spurious, but have little option but to accept them. I found that asking for the grain to be returned to farm tended to see the spurious claim dropped. Once you are known to want it returned the claims seemed to magically stop. I must emphasise that this is for grain you know to be well within spec. Paul

Ofcourse a lot of the ergot is ground up by the combine and not seen. The millers still take it hopfully they suck all the dust out of the load otherwise all the cleaning px do is pointless but the millers are saving money by making the supplier do the cleaning and taking the cost.
