Not just everyday do you see a grain bin going down the road being moved by a vintage Big Bud tractor. Not to mention a airplane flying down the road. Very cool stuff.

Iv did that with a simple size bin but with a bin crane pulled behind a t-670 I thot I was cool goin down the road but this is way cooler lol

Nick and Scott, it's called the venturi effect. I have seen it a number of times in our area. Strong winds blow at and around bins, silos and other tanks. In the process of blowing in between curved structures the air accelerates much faster than around the outside of the structure. In turn if there isn't anything in the bin to support the wall the pressure will collapse the wall. I even had a minor collapse of a bin wall above the level of the grain in the bin. It was about 2/3s full and we had winds in excess of 80 mph.

Nick, your 2nd instructor was so right about being able to fly at ground effect level, you learn what to do and how, without the massive bump if you miscalculate something. Nice to see someone knows what and why. I bet the first instructor had no choice but get up because of urbanisation (High buildings). safer up high, you get to see them earlier! Just love Bob's hanger/lifting device. So simple it just has to work! Good to see you all working together too. From UK.

My dad was a B-24 pilot over Japan and when he returned home he instructed and met my mom. One time there was parade in town and he he landed the airplane he owned on the highway leading into town, taxied down main street for the parade and took off on the highway on the opposite side of town. So yea get low and have fun!!!

Thanks for another great video Welkers. It was most certainly interesting and enjoyable to watch. This is a different project for sure. Great way to move a grain bin down the road. You guys have this kind of project down pat. Neat how you do it. Like that device you made to lift the bin with. Neat gadget to have. Does the job. Once you have the bin set on the new pad it seems to go pretty good. Lots of bolts and nuts to do. The drone footage was excellent. A new perspective of the bin going down the road. Excellent footage. Thanks. Looks like you are getting this project towards completion. Good job Welkers. My compliments to you for all your engineering on the project. Thanks for everyone. You all take care. My blessings to you all The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Dented bin from wind pressure? My brother in laws by Magrath Alberta seal the lid and bottom, fill it with a few psi of compressed air, from a big portable compressor, 185 CFM. Pops it back out quite nicely!! No product filling and kicking necessary…

Hey Nick, very first video I ever saw you. I saw a little clip of you. I think it was in Colorado. You were just getting out of school and heading back to the ranch and always wondered if you kept up with flying. I’m not sure the answer to that but as a 172 driver Michelle, I totally agree with you. I loved flying in Montana and doing the very same thing that you were talking about with ground effect.
