High Falls Dam Release | Aug 24th, 2019

The Duke Energy release of water from Lake Glenville, NC on August 24th, 2019. This was my first time seeing the water release on the West Fork Tuckasegee River near Cashiers in Jackson County, which is done a number of times each year to comply with their licensing requirements.
While Duke Energy neither discourages individuals to observe the release or encourages the release for recreational purposes, there is no question as to why this 150 foot waterfall and five and a half mile stretch of the west fork of the Tuckasegee River are a hot bed of action during the releases.

Is there public notice of the release? If so, how far in advance is it made? This is a wonderful sight and would love to get my front row seat some day.

there is a set schedule that is released well in advanced. If you search for Duke Energy recreational dam releases you should be able to find it or search for High Falls Dam Release Schedule. They do it a number of times per year.
