The Dallas High Five Interchange is indeed America’s tallest interchange. It’s located in the greater DFW region of northern Texas and was built in December of 2005, replacing it with a partial cloverleaf interchange as seen from the year of 2001. Thanks for showing this five-level stack interchange, Jim!

I remember going through the interchange during it's construction in 2002 on the way to and back from Plano for a high school cross country meet. I was impressed from the start on it's scale. Plus it's on the way to Microcenter, whenever I feel like mustering the energy to drive through the beast that is north Dallas.

Awesome video! I've lived here for six months and still haven't taken all the ramps yet. I work nearby, and I love to see this interchange every day. It's a shame 635 doesn't look like that anymore - it's crazy with all the construction.

Simply put, one of the VERY best road videos of the year. Thanks for bringing to us this excellent production of one of the world's greatest interchanges! Also, I didn't realize you liked this song? I'm not sure if I ever used it in a video, but I do remember linking it to you, once.

Guys, trust me! I've lived in Dallas for 20 years: and these frontage roads are definitely necessary to accommodate visitors as well as people who have to use this route to get to work every day. If there so happens to be an accident, these frontage roads definitely come in handy.

Like you I love the impressive designs of interchanges on freeways which I was first introduced to driving in the LA area in 1970 in my 64 Corvair. I was in the Naval Air Active Duty Reserve and was stationed at Los Alamitos and later at Pt. Mugu CA.I was blown away by the exquisite engineering in LA that seemed to build these four level interchanges on rather small land footprints. I remember driving north on the Long Beach freeway and marveling at the way the ramps were intertwined. It seems that Dallas has done some marvelous engineering as well.

Sweet post bro! I live in Houston and cover Dallas as my sales territory...I'm always impressed with both city's freeway systems and ike how we're waaayy ahead of other large cities when it comes to freeway construction/ planning. Now if we can only get the whole rivalry thing taken care of we'd be in business lol

Texas sells itself as a low-tax state. The reality is Texas has incurred massive debts (i.e., bonds) financing these road projects. It is just deferred taxation and with lots of interest to be paid on the debt.

Jim, I see you saved the best ramp for last, the level 5 one (635 Westbound to 75 Southbound). But, that's because I'm biased (it's how I travel from the folk's place in Louisiana back to my home in N. Dallas). But biases aside, the level 5 is spectacular to be on at night- especially where the ramp bends southward - Dallas skyline is easily visible from the top of the ramp, combined with the soar above 75..plus some tall buildings off to the west.

@adogg619 In Columbus, OH, there's symbols of OH-315, I-70, and I-71 painted in white outlines on the lanes before the I-70/71/OH-315 interchange, and I-70 and I-71 are white-outline painted before they split at Downtown.

That was an EPIC video of a HUGE interchange from EVERY ramp, including driving through the interchange. That's got to deserve more views than this, especially coming from you. I think the next video from Dallas would be either be a downtown street tour or a freeway drive through Dallas. Is there ANY way the High Five can hold a traffic count of 1,000,000 vehicles a day?
