Lmao! I snorted a lot at how you pointed out how OP the old ladies and dragons are and how some one off remarks about them from character's dialogues just casually reveal them as having such immense cosmic powers that make the entire macrocosm shake in fear is hilarious. Also the part where they say how the Trio Ladies literally tore a hole in reality is kinda unnecessary but it also reduces any potential tension too, like if they ever discover the bad guy trio there's no need to be worried because they can easily warp space and time and erase them from existence. And if the bad guys are just as powerful then it's literally just going to be a back and forth abstract fight beyond human imagination (which sounds cool, but I doubt this show could ever really make it work that well). And when these reality warping characters play such major physical roles in the story it might also undermine the main characters and the scaling cuz it goes from Building Buster to potentially an Inter-universal Powerhouse, which I think can work, but you gotta have.... CONTROL! I feel like the writers mentioned how the Trio tore a hole in reality simply to get some attention and be like "look guys, these old ladies are REALLY powerful! They literally tore a hole in the fabric of reality!" But that carries it's problems if they're super mega ultra powerful with zero effort. Any writer can literally make their characters be SuperNova level, Universe busting Demi Gods, but a really powerful character who has Limits is usually the better move. Look at Gandalf, he's literally an immensely potent angelic being but in LOTR and the Hobbit he's limited to a mortal body. Not only does it help keep Some tension (cuz he can still die and all that) but when he fights off the Balrog it makes sense because he's still pretty damn powerful regardless of his body (even then, the battle still took it's toll on him). But it's that perfect balance. Also the fact that Sauron IS stronger than Gandalf does show again, that Gandalf has his limits, he isn't objectively the most powerful and he can actually lose a fight. As far as we know the Trio has no weaknesses because they're immortal beings who can casually mess with Space-Time. Going back to the "Tearing a hole in reality stuff" it's not so much the fact they did it, but more on how it's executed and used. They made it sound like it was a piece of cake to do. :Holy crap what a random HGS related rant I just made lmao. Also man I got a good laugh when you pointed out how the star's light instantly appeared from whatever region of deep space and how fast that Light is
@azzburgersaf19732 жыл бұрын
I agree. That's the issue when you make a character too OP. The OP characters will have to be conveniently away from the problems, or they fight other OP characters.
@rashan1412 жыл бұрын
I mean, despite not believing in powerscaling with common sense, what's stopping the Triumvirate from also being that OP? Like, to say only these three women can command such power seems like such a weird thing to do when the bad guys need to be as much of if not MORE of a threat.

the worst part of all this is that so many of these oddities from the show like this could be played off as really cool were it intentional. like, something with the power to travel thousands of light years in mere milliseconds being mentioned and brushed off so casually could be awesome. like that type of power is just so accepted in their universe. again if it was intentional
@jonsku66622 жыл бұрын
I know this is a weird counter argument on the dragon part, but.. are we sure stars in the HGS universe are actually stars? Like for reference, in The Elder Scrolls universe (you know, Skyrim and all that), stars in the sky are not the same celestial bodies like the sun, but holes to a different realm, from which magic comes from Unless there is dialogue in HGS to state it, stars in that universe may not be suns light-years away, but mere dots on a canvas that makes up the sky (Then again, hard to excuse space not working the same in the show unless it's specified, by that point we can't even tell if their world is a planet or flat)
@guardianHQ2 жыл бұрын
Thats an excellent point actually, personally i believe its fine to use real life as a basis for things so long as the show itself doesn’t actively contradict the real world in that way. Most shows take things from real life but it really depends on the media

@princelamar17352 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing. When power scaling fiction, our conclusions are based on what we currently know about what the story is conveying. For example, if we assume that what a character destroyed is a rock, than we would assume that the fictional rock is as durable what are real life knowledge knows about a rock's durability in order to scale that character. So the fictional object doesn't have to be stated to be similar to it's real life counterpart to scale it, because we are going by what we know of the real life version of that object (so unless stated otherwise, we assume those stars are real life stars, it doesn't have to be stated to be like stars, because scaling is based on using real life knowledge to understand fiction).

Okay so first off, I enjoyed the hell out of this video, very entertaining. Second off, as a VSBW user... hell no 4-A would not be accepted on the wiki based on such weak stand-alone evidence, lmfao. Especially since outside of that one sus feat the best they have is some tier 9 and MYABE tier 8 stuff. The tier 8 stuff is itself iffy already-making a shield the size of a large building doesn't necessarily mean that it can withstand tier 8 attacks. EDIT: Also, the infinite hallway would only get High 3-A if there was an _explicit_ mention of it containing literally infinite space, more than simply saying it's an "infinite hallway". As such, all we have is the name, which isn't enough to justify such a high rating, especially when it could just be some clever spatial-looping hax instead (which is _quite literally_ infinitely more reasonable an assumption than claiming it contains infinite space without evidence). Still, very entertaining video.

Dragon ball powerscaler here. Taking the dragon scaling at face value it wouldn’t do much to Cell. At face value it would be able to equal Cell in power. That all it has. Cell out classes in every category besides that. From hax, experience, and technique. Now the reality The dragon pretty much exploded and created 5 star far out in space. We have zero idea if this can be concentrated or even directed at a enemy close to the dragon. If it could just spawned 5 stars right on top of Cell then Cell would live. 5 stars by itself is not a feat. First form frezia when he was introduced would most likely survive. Stars produce a lot of heat but that’s pretty much it. No where near the same as the power to destroy a star. It would need to produce power to destroy and not create. We’ve not been shown that nor has it been implied.
@PauloJrchannel2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, if we were to scale the HGS characters to the speed of the dragon's magic (which is fair, since they could react to the magic as it moved through the sky, and they can also dodge magic blasts from Sage, who scales to the dragons since she killed a dragon in the mermaid episode), they would be billions of times faster than light, so they'd kind of blitz the shit out of Cell. Although even then, Rosemary with her sword alone wouldn't be able to stop Cell from regenerating, so she'd just keep swinging her sword like an idiot until she runs out of stamina, then she'd be too tired to dodge and Cell could wreck her. I think a better HGS character to beat Cell would be a Terrasphere user, so they could turn Cell into a Groag or something like that.

I'm mainly concerned about my characters not taking enough damage relative to how bad they've been hit. This particular society is heavily centered around dueling, with some children undergoing intensive training at a young age to build skill/endurance (it used to be much harsher in the older generations, but parents stop pushing their children as hard because child abuse is bad-they still try to give them rigorous training but they would stop before they beat their children into exhaustion). Still, I'm not sure if intensive training would be enough to allow someone to crash through walls without severe damage. I'm also walking a tight line between cartoon logic and realism-it's a world of magical ducks so it's already not that realistic, but it isn't completely silly and whimsical either. @@sollumi3014 That is certainly a possibility. Another is that Raye (or whoever wrote it in) just stole thing from Roger Zelazny's Amber books. In either case I am pretty sure they just inserted the whole thing to make the world seem more mysterious, not to actually be an important part of the world building. It isn't the only thing in the show that seemed to have been inserted without much thought either, the entire magic system is like that, what kind of magic school would leave a spell book with an immortality spell so a first year student could find it her first week? So I think instead of putting the time in to make the world make sense, they just inserted things and we can try to analyze it and find order in the chaos but I don't think there really is any order in there. Why do a school that have first year students that easily can take out a fire need to call the fire department? Heck, why does a world where magic is so common in even need a none magical fire department in the first place? 3 water mages (old magic or new magic) could have done the same work as a large bunch firemen. That also makes me wonder about the upper classes... We don't really see any 2nd or 3rd year students at all, does it just take a single year to be a guardian, do they only start a new class after the last have graduated or what? Or is there other schools you move to after the first year? I don't think they have considered that either, a few students ready for graduation would have totally stopped the main cast from being the ones saving everyone in the last episode, there is no way that last year students wouldn't be a lot better and even if they are all hopeless we would at least seen them, the villains should have been forced to use some smart plan to keep them away if they existed. Nah, the entire show kinda feel like only the main characters matters and the rest of the people are just npcs that doesn't even exist when the main characters aren't on screen. World building seem replaced with random cool things inserted without rhyme or reason.

I love how when Rosemary tanks Mandrake’s attack, then falls from quite some altitude onto the roof, the show is then concerned with her falling off the much smaller school building. Like, that should be absolutely *nothing* compared to what she just took? Yeah, I guess you could say it would be a straw that breaks the camel’s back, but she’s not even scratched from the first attack!

@@guardianHQ well, I would say you cant believe everything the characters say, if its that tough why is it getting repelled by other weapons. we don't actually see the dragons get cut by it, not to mention we dont know if the dragons themselves can output star level power or if they just generate it when they die, it makes as much sense as superman getting his power from the sun but somehow he has far greater power output then the sun itself. its also assumed a mage from the show enchanted it, i assume the enchantment is only as good as the caster. Didn't they kill an underwater dragon in the other episode? Assuming it is as strong as the dragon who made the stars (which is not too far fetched, since they're both dragons), the main group would scale to Solar System level regardless, since they wrecked that thing and left it to bleed to death.

The dragons would not have solar system level durability Let’s imagine for half a second even though it’s not true this wasn’t just idiocy by the writers If we look at the healing water it accelerates healing not aging this is why rosemary is not elderly This means the dragon egg must have been permanently dormant a condition from which the well cured it, so we can move the accountability for the dragons disintegration and rapid aging to that’s just how dragons are meaning their massive levels of energy cannot be contained by their own bodies

I don't hate high guardian spice because I don't intend to watch it, and I didn't know what was going on until after everyone else watched it, and now I get to be entertained by the videos and critiques people make. I imagine either watching two episodes and then turning it off without knowing why, or bandwagoning and being like "omg I watched all of it," then just forgetting about it. For some reason though, even when shows are supposed to be good, and not bad like high guardian spice, I have a hard time appreciating them. Maybe 2d animation seems so time consuming and wild to me that I can appreciate it even when it's bad, but if it's praised on being really good, it goes over my head which is frustrating.

Ok sorry but assuming that stars in a fantasy universe are like IRL stars is a bit silly, it's like saying Luna is more powerful than Celestia because she controles billions of suns when it's obvious Stars and Suns are not the same thing as IRL. but then at the same time something as badly made as HGS, I have my doubt about the writters ability to set up/think about/comprehend such a distinction. I would still give them the benefice of the doubt and assume this is a celestial sphere or the stars are just small energy constructs that are close to the planet unless they contradict that.

Oh! Don't forget how the queen traber was able to deal a mortal gash to Rosemary while desperately flailing - yet when Mandrake launches his magic knives right at Rosemary, they don't scratch her, so much as they smack her back (as if it was a blunt hit). Now the show never mentioned any protective force that anyone can project around their bodies. Therefore, we have to assume that Mandrake's attacks are far weaker than a mutated trabWHAT STOPPED THEM FROM TRAINING SUCH A THEORETICAL BODILY FORCE FIELD BEFOREHAND? Seriously, this is a very basic ki-based power in these battle animes!

8:50 The dragon VERY CLEARLY DOES NOT TURN INTO STARS. He turns into SHOOTING STARS or SATELLITES. For a star to appear that small and be an actual star it would have to be hundreds of light years away but that energy was not traveling at millions of times the speed of light so clearly it only reached the atmosphere and not hundreds of light years away. And even if it did (which it didn't) that light would need to travel for hundreds of years to reach the planet. Since the light appeared INSTANTLY then it was only traveling about 100 miles. This means we know for sure that the dragon just created light sources IN ORBIT. Not real stars. Sorry but the characters in this show just are not strong at all.

I don't want to be 'that guy' or anything, but Goku has dealt with "unbreakable" swords before. The Z sword was supposedly unbreakable and look what happened with that. I do realize that unbreakable and immutable mean two different things, so I do see the flaws in my argument here. I don't think you can logically scale magical abilities with scientific measurements, though. If you did than Pegasus blowing the skirt up on a constellation in Disney's Hercule's during the Zero to Hero song would imply that Pegasus's wings flap with enough force to blow stars around. It's inherently flawed this way to measure power when it comes to mysticism. There's plenty of examples in mythology and other fantasy settings where things become constellations or stars and I don't think it's ever literally implied that they are making actual suns trillions of light years away in any of those. It's usually done more tactfully though, and implied so that there's some mystery and wonder to the process. I'm just saying that all of the issues you're having with power scaling in this video I think would have been written around if they had put more thought into it and it probably wouldn't have bothered anyone if the story was actually good. As it stands, everyone is looking for every little detail to criticize, and I get it, it's fun to do that, but I do think these are things that are forgivable in other stories just because in those stories they actually spent the time to build them into the world. Everything in this show is just a hodgepodge of what they think is cool at the time from what I've seen and heard without any thought into how it would make a cohesive world.

I doubt the hallway is actually infinite. Probably more like an extended pocket dimension that no one has reached the end of. Similar to the bags/suitcases in Harry Potter. Edit - it’s also seems implied by tone that Sage is just agreeing with Rosemary about dragons forming stars (“Yeah, sure”) Also also, the fact the characters know virtually nothing about guardian-ing or magic makes them pretty unreliable narrators 😅
