Hi, I'm using high index 1.67 lenses but why do my glasses have high distortion around the corner? Why is that possible? My prescription: L: 3.5 cyl 2.5 R: 5.25 cyl 4

My Right Eye is -3.00 Left Eye - 2.75 according to my prescription, 1.57 index is recommended however I don't like the thickness of 1.57, is it ok if I get a higher index? 🤔 If higher index means better then I want to get higher index lenses. Am I wrong? 🤔

Hello! If the aesthetics of thinner lenses is something you prefer then you can absolutely opt for a higher index material. With Myopic (minus) prescriptions, the thickest part will be at the edges of the lens. The larger the diameter, the thicker the edges will ultimately be. However, they are more brittle than poly or Trivex materials, so if safety is a factor you may want to stay or switch to one of those options.

Hello! Is it okay to get polycarbonate lenses for a prescription of +4.5/+4.75 for my 6 year old? Will it affect the function of the glasses?
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 3 ай бұрын
Hello! There will undoubtedly be some considerable thickness, but the poly material is the safest bet for kids. Most of the thickness will be in the center of the lens. The less lens material, or volume/diameter of the lens, will result in reduced thickness in the center compared to a frame with a large lens size. Here's a good example of a frame that will keep the thickness to a relative minimum: www.sportrx.com/oakley-crosslink-xs.html Hope this helps!

Incredibly useful video, was debating between 1.59 index polycarbonate and 1.61 high index, will think I go with the high index.

What kind of ABBE value do “nylon” lenses have?
@tylerandersen9410
@tylerandersen9410 2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! Nylon lenses are very uncommon and fairly new. Also, from what I know, not something that is available in Rx. I was not able to find a reliable source on the ABBE value of nylon, but I found a source or two that said it's around the 52 mark. If true, that would be great! Things to consider, then, would be the lens feature options available. If it's as good as some are touting, then it sounds like it should have a future and something we see more readily available! If it's that good, I hope it'll be available in Rx soon, too!

I just don’t want thick glasses that’s my thing. I been wearing glasses since I was a kid on and off and even now today I wear them. But I been wearing contacts since I was in the 7th grade so I have used those because I hated wearing glasses in public thanks for ur information

Can you see well from polycarbonate lenses
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear Жыл бұрын
Indeed you can Brianna. While there are 'better' lens materials with higher abbe values and/or index of refraction, Poly lenses offer fantastic clarity along with impact and scratch resistance and an affordable price point.
