Goodluck fella, train smart!

Fantastic work at the recent comp, you're progressing really well. I was wondering what training you would recommend for someone who doesn't have access to mats of a range of weights. I love competing but it's hard to train in the off-season when these things aren't available. Any ideas?

Ay cheers bro, and I'll be in the same boat struggling for a mat this off season haha. Women's world cup is coming to NZ and they'll be using all the facilities over the winter. It's hard to do technique stuff, I'd just start that up whenever mats free up, but doing plyos (sprinting, bounds, hurdle hops and depth jumps etc) and trying to progress them to build base hops. Making sure to measure them and increase them. Additionally height checking on hoops/dunking if you can, long jumping and my personal favourite is buying a hurdle (or one of those cheap single bar clothes racks) and increasing my PB jumping over it with hurdle form. Main thing I'd recommend is just making sure you are measuring and progressing ur effort. Like last winter my jumping over a hurdle PB went from 1.45 to 1.6 and I went from barely dunking to being able to two hand etc. Hope this isn't too much info and goodluck bro!

@@matehj Awesome, thank you so much. I'll consider getting a hurdle for sure. Wish you well through the off season😀

@@NotMat2 I'd recommend a "single bar garment rack" if you're strapped for cash. Legit wheeld this to the track all off season. :)

Hey Mate, how do you deal with shins splints? I can’t barley jump at 100% with them.. thanks in advance
@matehj Жыл бұрын
Strengthen the lower leg. I do calf raises and tib raises every gym session (unless I'm specifically trying to peak like in this video). If you currently have shin splints, do a little less jumping and plyos each session and do calf/tib raises at the end of each session. 3 sets, 8 reps of calf raises is good and 3 sets, 15 reps of tib raises works for me, and making sure to progress them in terms of weight! Hope this helps! It's all about being strong enough to take those heavy forces!
