You are very brave for tackling that scene. It does deserve a larger panel and how you see the color shifts is great. Thanks

Your trained eyes see hints of color where we see only grays. So glad you're on-site to capture those illusive color shifts and wave action. Thanks!

Hi Michael, been liking your skies lately. Cool to see how you can pull a painting out of a gray day! 👍🏽

Michael- you handle the water/waves etc so deftly, so assuredly. A lovely painting. Thanks.

Wonderful, how relaxing to paint right on the beach like that. I love the spontaneous effect of the work. 😊Thanks for the video.

Hi Michael, Always appreciate your work and videos. Your, seascapes always fun to watch. Quick question, someone I respect as a painter mention to me that Liquin Original will crack over time. (How much time I don't know). I hope he is mistaken because I know you use it, and many other artists use it, and I started using it. I am working on a painting right now using Liquin, Should I be concerned about cracking? Is this a question for Windsor Newton?
@davidpaulgriffin Жыл бұрын
From my own experience, I haven't seen that problem with my paintings. And I have been painting a very long time. Over 50 years. Maybe in another 50 years we'll see. It's possible it could become a problem if you too much liquin. It doesn't really take much to be effective.

I’ve never heard of Liquin cracking. I’d refer to the Winsor & Newton website if you’re concerned. Traditional mediums crack. Ever see a Sargent painting in person?

I like how your painting turned out, but I would have gone a different direction. I would have gone with the grey day. I guess that's because we don't get many grey days here in Kansas. It would have been a challenge expressing the greyness of the atmosphere for me.

Every artist gets to choose how to interpret a scene. That’s the beauty of art! No gray days in Kansas?!

Those squiggly whitewater patterns are crazy hard to paint authentically. I understand your frustrations.

Thanks. Really enjoyed open air seascape painting. Learned some techniques when working with oils...which I've stayed away from..usually work with acrylic , pastels. Wasn't sure how horizon would turn out.. sky and water values..loved that artist talked through process. I also exaggerate ocean waves... so will attempt to tone it down. Wish I could travel to West Coast try plein air painting ocean scapes. ojala..hopefully one of these days! On my bucket list!

This painting has so much going on, I could look at it all day. I like the sky details as much as the waves.

I’ve tried that zig saggy pattern in the white water where the water meets the sand it’s difficult to make it look right. I just keep practicing. I love your work. I’m from California but I haven’t lived there in while. There are so many beautiful and diverse places to Plein air paint. Thank you so much for sharing your painting on utube.

I really like the idea of creating a small series of swashes to place the waves. I'll try that whenever I can get out to Lake Michigan.
