What kind of jewelry are you getting that's so uncomfortable? Maybe try switching to a simpler classic Tiffany bracelet and wear only that? That's what I do I just wear my engagement ring and a Tiffany bracelet. And I'll go through phases where all wear a necklace all the time but it has to be a short chain or it will cause problems when you're doing your hair or sleeping

I get hair extensions, nails/pedicure, lip and cheek filler, eyebrow microblading, lash extensions, tan, waxing and or hair laser, lip blushing, I'm sure there's a few others I'm forgetting. Once I started doing all this I barely wear makeup. There's actually some days that I leave the house without makeup and I would have never done that before. The third time I got a tent and lift my eyes burned for 3 hours and I couldn't leave the salon because my site was blurry They had to douse me and eye drops and told me sometimes they experiment with different levels of perm and tent and if they accidentally get it in your eye it can mess your eyes up. I just want to give a PSA because no one ever told me that until I was crying in the salon thinking I was going to be blind. They told me that lash extensions don't have the potentially blinding effects that the lift perm does so just a PSA to anyone who is thinking about it you can get natural looking fake lashes you just have to tell them you don't want them as long, full, etc.

@LoryBelle
@LoryBelle Жыл бұрын
Married people do it all the time, and beyond that so many other people have a necklace/bracelet/rings/earrings they never ever ever take off. I will say, it’s hard for everyone who doesn’t wear jewelry when they first get engaged or married to get used to wearing their wedding bands, or engagement ring. It was super weird for me to get used to wearing my engagement ring and I would fiddle with it all the time, my husband gave me a hard time about it cause there’s a silly myth (that neither of us truly believe in) that messing with your ring is a sign you’re not confident in the relationship. He gave me a hard time cause he lives for giving me a hard time, but we’re both very sensory people (adhd & likely on the spectrum) so we’re both prone to fidgeting. Unsurprisingly, when we got married and he finally started wearing a ring too - he had an even harder time getting used to it than I did and messed with it nonstop!! I gave him a super hard time about it, obviously. Payback, yknow? But yeah, it’s funny because the exact reason it was difficult to get used to is the EXACT reason it’s difficult now if we don’t have our rings on. Sometimes I take my rings off to clean them, let them soak in soapy water while I’m in the shower, and if I forget to put them back on it’s like there’s no balance in the universe, it bothers me SO MUCH to have no rings on. My husband is the same way, but he doesn’t think to clean his I have to pry it off him to clean it every so often lol.

@@udontevenwannaknowbruv perms for curling will never give kinky coily hair. Think of the 1950s and 80s perms with the rods that set spiral curls but a but looser. A lot of my 80+ yr old lady clients who are non-Black love their short haircuts with perms. It helps them not have to worry about putting in roller sets or pin curls since they don't have the same dexterity or hand coordination as they did 60 yrs ago 💖 So they can just dampen the hair and brush/comb through it and it has the same styling effect as using curlers. It also gives volume and body to the hair. Some people's hair doesn't take well to chemical curling or straightening solutions, so make sure you test strand it.

I'm a single mom with a special needs daughter. I haven't bought, worn, used makeup in almost 6 years. She's been sick this week so I haven't even brushed my hair in 3 days now. I dont think you can get anymore low maintenance than this unless I was roadkill.
@SaffariRose
@SaffariRose Жыл бұрын
Sad to hear this. I hope your daughter gets better soon. When loved ones need attention we often give our all without sparing a bit for ourselves. It's normal and I'm sure you're doing a great job! I can share a tip I always use for my hair. I comb, brush it down with some leave in conditioner, light moisturizer and dry oil of choice (my hair is quite straight), then put in a low ponytail. I then make sure to tie it down tightly with a silk or satin scarf (you can use any material except cotton). I do all the errands, household chores and sleep with the scarf on and only take it off when I'm leaving the house (Use a shower cap in the shower). Your hair stays neat and flat without you having to deal with it for a number of days. I have pushed for a week with this before washing. Since it's covered, no dirt gets on it nor meesy dry bed head from the pillow. Hope it helps! Good Luck!

I'm high maintenance when it comes to grocery bills. I can do what I like. Don't mess with my groceries! Chia/flax seeds, vitamins, monounsaturated fats, specific food and quantities. I have sat down in a grocery isle, compact, not in anyone's way, for 2 hours! Happily reading ingredients lists. My groceries are what keep me running throughout my day. It let's me do what I like so long as that is taken care of.

I relate with this sooo much 😅 I only wear jewelry made out of real gold with real gemstones, I never wear makeup (only for photoshoots) but I have high quality skincare products & face rollers & perfume & serums, I color and file my nails at home and take vitamins for my nail, skin and hair, use expensive lash & hair serums etc. All for that I never have to wear makeup or fake nails 😅 I just invest in a few high quality products that I use every day…

I wear all of my chains to sleep as well as my earrings. I get my nails done in gel (both hands and feet) so I don’t have to think about them for 3 weeks. I keep my hair short so it is easier to style on short time notice and I buy nice comfy clothes (at least comfortable to me) that look very put together in a specific range of colors so I can always look like I put effort in while I am actually wearing something I feel comfortable in.

Also helps if you have more matured skin that doesn’t breakout, a skinny face and body and hair that is manageable. If people who didn’t look like her did the things she did they’d still have to worry about messy hair, body hair (East Asians have less hair or less visible hair), blemishes and hyperpigmentation and also jewellery is so incredibly uncomfortable to wear constantly and if you wear it long enough, unless it’s pure gold, silver, platinum or titanium, it’s turning green

I buy expensive clothes for the quality of fabric, but most of them literally lasted me more than a decade. My oldest piece is from my mom from 2 decades ago that I still wear on formal occasions mixing it with different tops 😂 Same with shoes coz other than comfort, the cheaper ones gets worn out easily. I usually buy gold for jewelry coz they look good with almost anything, the cheaper ones I bought already tarnished.

Only place I want to be high maintenance is with my hair and skin care because I've never had the money to do those things correctly. My fiance will also have to sit through me doing the care on him too. He has a big beard and I love it so I want it to be healthy so it doesn't cause him skin issues or discomfort because he's had to shave it off a few times because he couldn't keep up with it but he likes it too so I'll just do it after we get married. He lives far away only reason I'm not doing it right now. If I get to pamper myself then he's along for the ride too because he needs tlc too.

@@wyclefohara4169 realizing, on a fundamental level, that 99% of people who see you don't particularly care how you look is very time-saving life skill 😅 I know it's not as easy as simply saying that though, and everyone's confidence and comfort levels are in a different place. My acne scarring and active breakouts will always be visible even under makeup, unless I put foundation all over my neck and chest my rosacea shows anyway, and if it gets too humid my hair will be a hot mess unless I slick it back Grease style so why waste my own time 😂

It makes more sense for women to not waste time trying too much on appreance. Women have more to worry in life and have more difficult lives, so we should enjoy any free time we get by doing things we genuinely enjoy, and not fussing over uncomfortable things such as eyebrow threading, high heels etc. Women are naturally beautiful as long as we are somewhat healthy and have basic hygiene. Whereas men need to put more effort to look better. Even when gaining weight, women gain weight in the hips and thighs (most of the time), whereas men gain weight in the stomach (most of the time)- so fat men look worse than fat women. Men have less of an excuse to be fat. Women have periods, give birth, menopause which makes weight fluctuate.

I cringe everytime I hear ppl say they don’t take off their jewelry…EVER I used to work at a jewelry store, with nice quality jewelry. It’s not true when brands market their jewelry as being able to be worn to sleep, the shower, swimming….the truth is you can do that with most real gold pieces. You shouldn’t though and that’s the difference. It’s just really rough on your jewelry. If you have pieces that have diamonds or multiple diamonds on it you will wear away at the prongs (the metal holding the diamonds) and you can loose the stones or you will wear away the finish faster (if you have white gold). The clasps can break, or your pieces can get damaged as you sleep. Yes it may not happen right away but it can happen and fixing jewelry can get really expensive really quick. Easiest nicest things for your jewelry is to go by the rule “first thing to take off when you get home, last things you put on in the morning”

Lolol I feel this. 1. I do my manicure and pedicure with polygel full extensions with design and toes with gel polish once a month MYSELF , foot mask every other and it lasts the whole month unless maybe one breaks then I take them off and put a clear on until my next set. I feel a broken nail is tacky 🤷🏽‍♀️, same with my hair, I'll do a deep conditioning once a month or a protective style every other month for three weeks then wash and leave out and curly for a week 2. I don't do makeup, only if I'm going out to something big and it's a simple il makiage foundation (I feel it's expensive but worth it and it lasts me A LONG time), liner and mascara and lip gloss 3. I'm lucky to have really healthy looking skin, nails and hair, but it's probably because I mostly only drink tea and water and a whole avocado every day 4. And the jewelry as well, none of my gold jewelry are less than 14k, but I do switch my earrings every other month
