At the end of this video, Bruce provides some secondary comments based solely on experience and wisdom in the field. He discusses that what appears to be an oil leak from a NH 220 Cummins turbo, is in fact not oil, but fuel mixed with soot. I just bought at 1948 Kenworth Needle Nose (www.1948kenworth.com) and I experienced this exact issue. I thought it was leaky turbo seals. I actually removed the turbo and was looking nationwide and globally for a shop or repair kit for my old T-590 turbo when I saw the video. I could not believe my good fortune to have stumbled upon Bruce, from a reference of another website. I simply put the turbo back on and just as Bruce stated, when the engine warmed up or I ran it at more than an idle, the apparent leak stopped. Now I can see the behavior of the liquid is exactly that, diesel fuel carrying with it soot. I had talked with highly recommended turbo shops across the country. This video and Bruce's wisdom and experience had the answer I needed. There is a lot of valuable information in Bruce's videos and with his shop. Thank you.

Seems like I better stick to high compression. Outstanding education! However, I thought some turbochargers have waste gates. I do not hear my turbo on my N14 spooling at idle or bobtaing at 5th or lower gear. I did hear a C12 and Series 60 turbo whistle at idle. Useless to me to put wear on a trubo at idle.

Why do truck manufacturers do a lot of things?
@albertomoniz90513 жыл бұрын
That's not a pyro friend you have been missed informed, on a vgt turbo that sensor on the cold side is a compressor wheel speed sensors
