That is correct. I know there is some research that suggested this, that most people who are targets of workplace bullying are actually high performers, or are perceived as a threat due to the potential to be good at their job. But, I have also observed this myself in life. After I left a toxic workplace once, for example, I noticed that my main bully, began to target the new girl, (after I put in my notice, and was on the last couple weeks there), who was the one who I thought clearly was the most likely to succeed and excel at the job. She learned quickly, she was obviously way smarter than the other workers.So, I knew exactly why he was targeting her. But, he was trying to make her look and feel incompetent. But when I saw that, on my last couple days at that job, especially, I realized that it really is true, that the bully targets the one who is the best, or who would be the best, if given opportunity to be. And, that bully was now targeting the smartest new hire. So this is a fact. She was also a nice girl, too, who didn't do anything to him to deserve that. But I believe he was a Narcissist, as in, he had that full blown disorder, in my opinion. So, she will struggle to succeed because he is now targeting her, and smearing her to the boss.

You are so right, I'm the hardest worker in our plant and probly the highest performer , they don't see half of the stuff I fix and take care of , I'm very very loyal to the ones I work for ,the type of guy that catches someone stealing lumber off job sites , I notice everything in this place and love my job , but got a boss that is just an ass , I guess it's because I talk too the ones in front office and that is why he feels I'm a threat , I don't understand why but I don't go in the front office and talk to them or give gifts to them because I see what happens from it , what can I do when a boss runs around and tells things to people that just gets people to not even say hello anymore , it's so humiliating what I've gone thru the last yr , with the whole place turning on me over someone so we'll liked that he thinks rules don't apply to him , well I had to do some things to protect myself from his toxic thinking and one thing I can promise you , I'm not as dumb as he thinks , and let me tell you , I never could never be like that and hate on know one ever , but a person that's been into the rc racing world all his life knows that they can find ways to protect themselves if they were to get me fired over his lies , he is the type that spis on you all day , and hope he is watching too ! I do nothing wrong but I can sure pull a rabbit out of my hat too show who is telling the truth ,believe me on that , I prey for him every night and I can't sleep at night because I don't understand why , know one has ever not wanted me on a team this is a first for me and if you got a way I can get him to stop without out getting anyone in trouble I like to hear it ! Because I got a lot now ! But will never show it unless I get fired
