In response to a question from one of our viewers in this video I am discussing different hand positions for Off Hand. It is an outstanding question and building a solid foundation for slow prone is essential to achieving your goals. This is not only a great video for someone who is new to precision rifle shooting, it is also great for the more experienced shooters who is looking to improve their present position and scores.
NOTE: When ever handling firearms please handle your firearm in a safe manner. Although there are Manny different opinions about firearms safety rules, I would like to highlight the following.
Rules For Safe Gun Handling
ALWAYS-Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction
ALWAYS-Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until ready to shoot
ALWAYS-Keep the gun unloaded until ready to use

I’ve seen others use a similar grip. I have been using a similar grip as well, except I have all fingers, but my pinky finger supporting the rifle. So far I love this style of grip!

Great Video, was looking at your previous off hand video today as well and then this one popped up. i'm trying out different grips, as a new shooter. I have a MK7 handguard so the split finger grip seems like it would be uncomfortable. I'll give it a shot though and see how it feels. Fist grip seems like it provides similar elevation and comfort and since the MK7 is flat on the bottom this may be advantageous.

I’m glad it helped. I have been wanting to try the Mk7 thinking because it’s flat it might give a bit more elevation. The fist should workout well for you.

Great video. I’m struggling a lot with OH, as I’m sure everyone does at first. What about your fingers covering the ejection port? Seems like that would be a big problem.

Hi Lawton thank you of the kind words, I actually were a work glove under the shooting glove so the ejected case does not effect me at all.

@@10XPowerUp yeah. I’ve seen others demonstrate that hold in dryfire, and their fingers covered the ejection port as well. I guess the brass makes it past the fingers and doesn’t end up back in the rifle. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I have an idea for a video. Our local club shoots reduced 600yd targets at 300, and although we use electronic targets now, back when I first started we put white plastic stands behind the targets at an angle to allow us to see our holes with our spotting scopes. Then we’d do the walk and paste thing. I couldn’t imagine how on earth we’d be able to see anything at 600 yards. The problem is that nobody has a video that shows what the shooter sees when shooting a match with pits. I still haven’t shot a match like that. Everyone would say that the spotting scope was mainly used to see the mirage, but that really didn’t make any sense…. Finally, I was practicing one day and an experienced shooter came along and took about 30 minutes explaining the sequence of how the target goes down and comes back up with a large marker that stays there until you’ve taken the next shot. I thought they only put golf tees in the thing, lol. He also explained the way the indicators in the corners work. If you started out shooting at ranges with pits you probably can’t imagine what it’s like to have never seen it in person. I’ve still never actually seen the sequence, and how you manage your time during the string of fire. I bet there are a lot of guys out there like me who would benefit from such a video. Thanks
