Our school started this last year with the same setups. Angus was instrumental in getting us going in having a successful program. Support from Zipgrow was outstanding.

I am living in a country where hydroponic nutrients are almost impossible to find. People who are selling charge over prices which is far more expensive than in USA. What available material is NPK 20 20 20 TE, Epsom salt and calcium nitrate in loose packings. So my question is can you guys make a video how to prepare hydroponic nutrients with this available material. I'll be really thankful to ZipGrow.

How do you deal with infestations, e.g. thrips (Thysanoptera), when the plants are indoors all the time?

Good question. There are pest management strategies that you can use. The best defense is to stay on top of pests and to check the plants regularly. You can read about integrated pest management (IPM) in this blog post here. zipgrow.com/integrated-pest-management/ This is used more in a commercial set-up. Unfortunately those pesky little thrips do happen sometimes and if you have a full infestation, it's best to completely clean out the Towers and begin again. In an educational setting with a small set up, this is a simple solution. In larger more commercial farms, the space would be a completely controlled environment with less daily "activity" of humans touching and bring in germs and contaminants and therefore easier to control pests if you follow an IPM strategy. It's actually a good lesson for students to learn about keeping the environment clear, washing hands, keeping a controlled space etc.
