Because they are "entertaining." The orginal, the way it was written and meant to be sang is about the feeling in the song and Sharpay takes it out every time, probably because she can't usually connect to loving someone other than herself. Sharpay always speeds it up and makes it more entertaining to watch. She doesn't care about the meaning behind the lyrics - just the showmanship she can get out of it - which is why she always speeds up all the songs she's given. I think the only one she didn't because it was already partly sped up was Troy and Gabriella's duet in the third one, although she did dramatize Gabriella's part more than it originally was.

The great thing about HSM is that they took songs and give you various versions to really convey the relationships between the characters. The Troy and Gabriella version of this song is slow, romantic and makes you feel their connection as a couple. The Sharpay version is high energy to represent her high maintenance. She controls the song and really emphasises "ME ME ME ME ME".. She wants all the attention on her. She's beaming in the song and Troy is subdued.. Bringing attention to how their relationship is.

Let’s be honest, this version is a slay. Looking back now, I also find it hilarious comparing it to the uptempo version of What I’ve Been Looking For from the first movie. With that song, Ryan and Sharpay at least had the same melody and key as what Kelsi wrote but just upped the tempo. I would think Sharpay didn't just want Troy to be on the show with her. She wanted him for herself, because she was jealous of him spending more time with Gabriella than he ever spent time with her. What really taunts me is that Sharpay has a selfish side that makes her controlling on one person and trying to keep others away. She may think she's cool, but that kind of action is NOT being cool at all. It's just being psychotic.
