Honestly it made me so mad that the judges automatically became biased once they heard mark was a Kpop idol. Anyone can see they were enjoying his performance up until they found out who he really was and it’s obvious that’s why he didn’t say anything about it before he rapped. It’s a judges job to judge the performance not the person smh. Obviously mark is up there with the great rappers in this competition bc he made it to the finals but everyone was just salty and scored him so low here 😒😒😒 but it’s okay bc he’s the most successful now anyways and his rap skills did improve 👏🏽❤️

i still kinda feel bad for him because ya know he does look left out. It feels like he's either overtantly priased for being an idol or he's ridiculed for the image of being an idol rapper. I mean this man already won a MAMA award at the age of 16, but still I feel like everyone there didn't give their full unfiltered opinion. They people there either let him off easy bc of his image or they over criticized him for small details to seem like the "unpopular" choice. I'll always say it, I think that neither option is right. if he performs great, he should be praised. if he doesn't do great, he should be criticized and taught. they shouldn't overly sugarcoat but they shouldn't poke at miniscule details as if they're looking for a problem. And i think thats the biggest problem with going into a survival show while being a well known idol. The opinions won't ever be 100% accurate to the judge's real thoughts. It will always be determined or at least influenced by how popular the idol is.
@jjyviolette91773 жыл бұрын
there's nothing to be ridiculed about being an idol rapper, it's just that they felt strong rivalry, first and foremost this is a competition and Mark as an idol having fans behind him was a great disadvantage for them, and I remember one rapper said they do not like idol rappers because they get more recognition than those underground rappers who live their life rapping, it probably hurt their pride since they're living for it while idols who have many more responsibilities and does not spend time solely for rapping is being awarded instead of them, I hope it makes sense
@winwinsonlylinesinboss3 жыл бұрын
@@jjyviolette9177 and i understand that, i just want to see their true unfiltered opinion. because based on how popular the idol is, the people on the show wont get to display their true opinion becsuse they might be 'cancelled' by weird fans. Well-said. Perhaps this show can be more like King of Masked Singer, where the identity of the "singer" is usually unknown for the large part so the panel can give their truthful opinions on the vocalists' skills. It's because they have this biased view of: 1) International winners vs. Korean winners. Even of it is a rap competition and stuff there is still a lot of discrimination that goes on in Korea and someone who is not Korean winning a competition like this can cause tension. Especially if that non-Korean is already in an agency and an idol. 2) these rap competitions have a bias for underground rappers and tend to hate idols. They feel like idol rappers are basically just pretty people with no talent in rapping. 3) if you were an underground rappers but are now an idol they hate you even more because of some stupid reason. I guess to them they think underground rapper are "true rappers" and idol rappers are just not? 4) if you're a girl well... yeah... good luck. You gotta have massive talent and a massive following on the show to pressure the judges to not cut you. Korea is really discriminatory, it sucks.

@Kingdom_Of_Dreams3 жыл бұрын
I understand why dropping "NCT" in his introduction would change people's perception of him. If you were interviewing people for a job, you want someone with the most amount of training and experience. Mark had not only debuted in a group that won recognition at the Asian Artists Awards in 2016, showing their success in a very competitive industry, but SM also has the best trainee program, which Mark had already been a part of for several years before his debut. So, yes, people would treat him differently, as they should. He should not only be recognized for his hard work as an SM idol, having gone through years of intense training, but he should also be held to a high standard befitting an SM idol.
@edwardkuoch3 жыл бұрын
Because he's an idol. The judges and some contestants are legit rappers. Being an idol means popularity. Bobby and B.I from YG got the same support in Show Me the Money. The fans know how popular K-pop is compared to K- hip hop so that's why Mark saw it as unfair to say he's an idol from SM. Because the fans would end up supporting him no matter how good or bad he was.
@astarleah43673 жыл бұрын
There's a stereotype that idol rappers are worse than "real" rappers, which sucks since there are a lot of talented idol rappers. People have this perception because sometimes weaker vocalists are by default relegated to the role of rapping even if they may not be particularly good at it, though this kind of prejudice should not be condoned. I hate it when people form impressions and expectations of others based on their own narrow judgmental worldview that completely and utterly ostracizes anything they disapprove of.

It is upsetting how the judges face changed right after they figured out mark was a member of NCT. During his rap, they all seemed happy and enjoyed it but when it was revealed that he was a kpop idol, they looked more strict. Also, ik Swings is an og, but I am confused by his critique. As a listener of American, Chinese, and Korean hiphop, rhymes DO NOT MAKE UP A GOOD RAP (Unlike basic skills such as flow, vocabulary, the lyrics themselves, diction, etc.). Rhymes are important to elevate a rap but there are many rappers that don't use it or use it minimally. It all comes down to personal style, and Swings seems to think that his personal style is the standard for all rap. I liked the other judge's critique though, it was actually really helpful and constructive, I thought he pointed out a genuine flaw in Mark's rap that he could fix.

The irony thing is how vocalist looks down on idol vocalist,rappers looks down on idol rappers and dancers looks down on idol dancers but they all work under idols and have gained international interest because of idols. The food they are eating, the luxurious items,the money in the credit. Every royalty they gained is through those people they look down on.

Idk but I feel like it's the MC's fault for stating that he won the best new artist awards at MAMA and stuffs. He do need advices from the judges but those facts just made people think that he's an idol and he won't do well. That's really not necessary

i feel like some of u dont understand.. mark was so young here.. and english is the language he is most fluent in. so it isnt very easy to be rapping in korean when its not his first language. which i kinda get why they were harsh and i understand why mark might have been less skilled to the others bc a big part is the language. and i could see he was so stressed because that was probably in the back of his mind mixed with being an idol on that show and being in sm. i feel like he didnt want to do the show but was forced. i felt bad for him lol

The first judge was straight up just rude, like where were his faults and what could he have done better! He seemed to enjoy the performance but as soon as he heard that Mark was from NCT his tone and voice changed like what the fuck. You're supposed to judge them on their performance without mixing personal feelings and being harsh just because he is an idol. He worked as hard if not more as everyone else and should be respected for it.

let go of the past, mark is more successful than all of the people shown in this video so don’t feel bad for mark.
