Some of the best youth memories I have are of high school wrestling practice, and def love the conditioning drills with a rep of whatever exercise it was with ever blip of the whistle albeit crunches, sprawls, sitting on the back over partners shoulders sit ups, carry squats, etc. And most def the weight room supersets and the 3-3-3's as if the normal weight lifting wasn't enough. Getting threw practice felt like such an accomplishment. But the best part of practice was when it was over LOLOL with the rapid 5 sec burst of coaches whistle calling us over to huddle around n take a knee. But the camaraderie was priceless. Including the balance and core strength of defending ourselves physically if necessary. I don't think there was anyone that didn't ever think about quitting on any given day before or during practice dreading knowing how tough it would be AGAIN. Just had to take it day to day, and even segment by segment. Just "get threw this", then "just get threw that", etc. And being an underdog beating any opponents that were older, more experienced & seasoned, higher seeded, state hopefuls that were supposed to annihilate me is something that couldn't feel any better. Regret not getting my letter jacket when I moved away. Would've been awesome to wear it at my school. Esp since the wrestling letter jackets looked better than the football jackets.

In America & Russia wrestling style has different point of perspective one is that in USA the wrestlers focus on make points touching the back of the opponent to the ground and on Russia is just takedown or throw the opponent the times possibles getting the point when needed

i was wrestling boys when i was like 7 bc they didn't have a girls team. i never had to starve myself thank god. and i miss it but i'm not in the shape i was in. but i won 3 bronze 1 gold all against boys. i remember winning the gold i got it and i bit it making sure it was real. bc i'm a dumb kid. and it was in 2013. and i was so happy then i "retired" and worked to tell the ref when the clock ran out by hitting him with a pool noodle. then i went to doing gymnastics and soccer and basketball the basketball and soccer was before gymnastic. and miss them all but if i went back it would be the gymnastic's or basketball. man i miss the old days

Im a girl wrestler too! Im in 9th grade currently and on my school's team. Its difficult and im very nervous for my first match but I think i will be ready because im also doing soccer in the mornings. Ill be in great shape, im already a lot stronger than when i started back in 2015!! There should be more girl wrestlers haha. But ive only wrestled guys, i have actually never even wrestled another girl before. Ive made it to states every year except for last year though, which i lost the match by 1 point.
