Hold up Trent hidlay on KZbin breaking down matches. I had no idea. Welcome bro

I’ve been calling it the “over/under partial one”. You also used it to force a stall call against Jacob Cardenas. Usually you see the “partial one” used to set up fireman’s carry but you’re the first guy I’ve seen use it to set up the over/under.

Please post another video!!!! I need something to add to my agenda to practice this summer, maybe use some other high school footage or tactics?

Trent, this is an awesome video! I didn’t realize you made these. It was a blast watching you this year and throughout your career. I was at NCAA’s and every time you walked out on the mat an extra spark of energy entered the arena. You’re a champion in this sport and I’m excited to see what you do on the international scene. NCAA’s will be missing your celebrations and roof raises next year.

The underhook 🐐
@superman1982247 ай бұрын
I was really good at the under hook in high school. My opponent would circle, throw me to my back, and my under hook would slide right in as I got pinned…

What a great resource for High school wrestlers... thanks

You make such a great point. Instead of breaking contact, you just wait for the 1. Then chain it right into the next takedown. Some wrestlers do a great job there. Bo Bassett comes to mind when he runs that high C.
@Trent_Hidlay7 ай бұрын
Yes- it is great for getting to your ties as your partner escapes. Bo does an awesome job at this with his collar tie to leg attacks

@@Trent_Hidlay I also love how you use the word partner instead of opponent. Speaks volumes to the positive mindset you choose. Keep up the great work!!

In your first example, do you think the ref should have given the 1 that quickly? I understand that's your goal, but it seemed like if it was a tie match sometimes the ref might have waited a little more to make sure you didn't still have some sort of control there. Thanks for the video!

Trent, I have screen recorded all the matches at ncaa's last year. When we go on wrestling trips your matches are the most satisfying to watch

Trent what did you notice about Yazdanis under hook that was tough to crack? This is not a slight by any means just interested at the highest levels.

@@Trent_Hidlay thank you I’m new to wrestling and I’ve found sucess with the underhook and I find your underhook to be my favorite so far
@sc-wrestling7 ай бұрын
so you poke at that left leg, then throw the under hook for the right single. you're not worried about getting lat dropped at all as you pressure forward? this over under situation is super sketchy and inconsistent for many wrestlers, especially youth wrestlers. I'm interested in how you feel so comfortable here and what kind of pressures you look out for from your opponent as you're attacking with it.

@@xzjayz7925 No. But to post a combative move, that implies success at all levels, is fallacy. I was simply asking a question. Did he try this in that match? Was Brooks prepared for it?
