getting choked out doesn't have to knock you out for hours or anything. because of this one video? I am assuming you don't follow wrestling normally. There are a whole bunch of things you can't do in wrestling, which makes it the sport it is. You can't kick someone in boxing, and you can't choke someone out in wrestling. There are a whole host of techniques that are against the rules in wrestling, including when you can lock your hands, etc. There have been many events in wrestling where people did something obscure which lead to a reset, penalty, or points awarded. It has not changed the game much. Most rule changes have been to improve the sport's watchability, mainly.

Greco in the US is really bad. IF we had a top end Freestyle wrestler that knew they wouldn't make the Olympics just focus on Greco, the US might be relevant in Greco on the world level IMO
@dominicmontalvo3626 Жыл бұрын
That’s not necessarily true, all of our top freestyle guys tend to shit their pants when foreigners try to take it upper body. Look at bill Ferrell international and watch the guy from Kazakhstan demolish some of our top guys solely going upper body. That guy isn’t even the top dog in his country. US wrestling as a whole just doesn’t stress the importance of upper body. Put Spencer lee against max nowry and I wouldn’t be surprised if max techs him. Put JB or KD against kamal bey and watch kamal take the W against both and dakes actually pretty good at greco. They’re just too different and every country knows if you want to beat the US take the match to the upper body. It’s not who’s on the team that’s the problem. It’s that we don’t have enough exposure in the US and we don’t have enough people paying attention to greco which, overall, makes the competition significantly weaker. Our top guys would still most likely be the top guys if our freestyle guys switched but it would most certainly make everyone better

I'm curious about the throw...am I on track with thinking Sancho was going for a bear hug straight to back and the kid, Adams was fast enough to immediately realize the opportunity for the toss? The thing that really caught me off guard was the amount of commitment to it that wasn't necessarily desperation, but more opportunistic, meaning it seemed like that was practiced and felt before to where even after going unconscious, this clicked for him as a "go to." Yes, it takes skilled athleticism to pull this off, but I'm also in amazement with the wherewithal Joel Adams had here in this situation. Just impressive in so many ways. What a sore loser by the Olympian! Wow. It’s a sport and even though one loses, lose with your head up and be thankful for the competition. Honestly a refusal should result in a suspension of six months. Totally uncalled for.

Match should’ve been over when the kid got thrown to his back and pinned regardless of whether or not he loses consciousness. I can see why the Sancho is pissed cause he kinda got cheated here

Is it legal to choke your opponent unconscious to achieve a win in this sport?

It was a good call... can't fight the hold if you're not awake. Shouldn't matter to Sancho anyway... former Olympian shouldve shook it off and took him out. He let him linger and that's what happens..

If you can choke your opponent out and then pin them then what's even the point of wrestling just do jiu jitsu
