Kicking/punching the ball gives 1 point. Heat Fu gives 2 points. Great Bird Claw Spike gives 5 points (1 for the Spike, 4 for the reception). Breaking a layer of the ball gives 6 points. Completing a cycle gives a variable ammount of points.

If you're looking for how to do this, here's what I found out from both the wiki and the video: Press A in time with the rhythm and when the ball gets to you to hit it back to your ally. When the voice says "Heat-fu!" hold A+B for a beat after the command (like "Heat-" (1) "-fu!" (2) hold A+B (3) ) to breathe fire and keep the ball in the air. Both players have to do this. If the voice says "Great Bird Claw Spike, pow!" look at both characters. One of them will jump on "Claw". If you jump, press A on "Spike" to spike the ball to your ally. If your ally jumps, press A on "pow!" to send the ball back to your ally. Occasionally, after a Heat-Fu, both characters will jump, which alternates between the outer and inner poles. The inner poles have half the time between hits. Great Bird Claw Spike can only occur on the outer poles. After enough Heat-Fus on the first (bronze) ball, the ball will break to reveal a silver ball. After enough of them on the silver ball, it will reveal a gold ball. Rely on your sense of rhythm for the gold ball, it is very difficult to track. If enough Heat-Fus are performed on the gold ball, it will break and you will gain either an extra life or points. A new bronze ball will be supplied to continue the game and it will get faster. How'd I do?

ACTUALLY they are trying to break the ball. They break it only to reveal another ball to break inside. Its not getting smaller, but the balls inside are smaller than the previous ball.

this could be a really cool fighting game besides the 50 minute long game part. You kick the ball to the rhythm and each player has 3 lives. each time you get hit by the ball, you loose one. There are different characters with different upsides and downsides, and theres other options of kicking such as kicking it straight forward instead of at an arc or a way to fake a kick them hit them.
