When I was younger I went for a ride in a t shirt on a hot July day and lost control on pavement being resurfaced on the highway , at about 70mph I hit my head first very hard (wearing a helmet) and then skidded on my back two shoulders down the highway , 100 yards or so until I hit the grass shoulder and flipped up in the air. This was over twenty years ago. I went home , washed my wounds and ate dinner until the pain was nearly unbearable. I ended up staying 2 nights in the hospital, with severe/extreme road rash. It took 8 months for the wounds to actually close. They would seep and then dry so wearing a shirt was difficult because you would have to pull the fabric off the wound. Impossible to sleep on your back. Taking heavy pain medication just to get up out of bed to eat and move around until I was luckily cut off. Then dealing with that withdrawal. I’m regarded by a lot of folks for being tough but the pain of having your skin burnt off like that is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. Friends had to stay with me just to help me get along alright. I still till this day sleep on my side and have two massive raised scars on my two back shoulders. I still ride on occasion 2-3x a year and I rode for many years after that accident but largely have given up motorcycles. It’s extremely dangerous and really not worth the risk. I’ll have these scars for the rest of my life and I was just unlucky to have lost control that day. You can tell people , and I was told as a teen but unfortunately people often learn the hard way.

I froze it and zoomed in and it appeared at the moment of impact the left side of the SUV was across the dividing line for the right turn lane. The driver may have been starting to change lanes into the through traffic lane and the bike rider clipped him. The picture was too hazy to tell if the SUV had the brake or turn signal lights on.

@@Palaemon44 In Arkansas, the rear driver is usually at fault in a rear-end collision, but this isn't always the case. The rear driver is expected to leave enough space between their vehicle and the one in front so they can stop safely, even if the front driver slams on their brakes. If they can't stop safely, they're likely to be at fault. However, a jury can find either driver, both drivers, or neither driver at fault. In this case, going 100+mph, the bozo would likely be 100% responsible.

50/50 usually the ASP crash out or set themselves on fire. They are the worst although this Trooper was far more professional than any others I have seen he must be from out of state.

Well... that fool learned a couple of things that day; 1. God looks after idiots and small children - and he ain't a small child; 2. Pain hurts - a LOT; and 3. Road rash takes roughly forever to heal. Too bad about the bike, though...

Riding in traffic at legal speeds I've had enough close calls. Riding at excessive speed while people are trying to stop you is insane, totally not worth it. He was lucky this time next time he will lose more than a little skin. I have more road rash from my skateboard than I do from my bike.
