High Tunnel Grapes -- Cluster Thinning
In this video Jose Hernandez will show you how to cluster thin table grapes in the high tunnel. Cluster thinning supports the development of larger grape clusters and improved berry quality by balancing the number of clusters to shoot length. All the grape clusters are removed from shoots that are less than 8 inches long. One grape cluster is left on shoots that are 8 to 20 inches long. And two clusters are left on shoots that are over 20 inches long. This video was produced by NCAT and is part of the High Tunnel Grape Project funded by Southern SARE and led by the University of Arkansas in collaboration with Cooperative Extension, the National Center for Appropriate Technology, and the Arkansas Association of Grape Growers. Future videos will discuss pruning, harvest, and pest management for high tunnel grapes.
