Thanks for your videos. I'm about to file my disability claims after being out for almost 20 years. My nose was broken traumatically while in the Navy. I also have missing teeth. I just submitted a secondary claim for Meneir's Disease, supported by a letter from my private doctor which documents the diagnosis. Already have 10% tinitus, 0% hearing loss, 0% perforation all service connected. Fingers crossed.

I’m now 74 yrs old, Vietnam vet, had migraines for ever , never knowing it could have been connected to my tinnitus, have 10% on the tinnitus and 10% in injured knee. Haven’t really felt to go after a claim till they both became a problem 20 yrs later.

Just got my tinnitus rating back, 10%, after my VA on site C&P exam. The decision letter stated I need to also file for hearing loss, which backs up what the examiner told me. Since he was an actual VA employee, I want to submit using his exam notes as supporting documentation. sadly, the VA said I need to file a FOIA since I can't get access to his notes from the website. What a black hole the VA is. Now, it's time to start building on the Tinnitus with secondary's. Thanks Craig for all the videos to help us!

Thanks for all the information! I've been watching your videos for the past two month. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else when filing a claim. I filed my claim on July 16th of this year for tinnitus, went to the C&P exam didn't have a hearing test at all. We went over my personal statement, which took ten minutes then done. Just checked this morning and they finished reviewing my claim, I've been serviced connected at 10% which puts me at 60%. My total claim wasn't even a month, not sure if anyone has experienced this. All the information you put out is great and extremely helpful thanks again.

I just filed my claims under the BDD process and finished all my appointments. I’m really hopefully for above 50%. I wish I knew more going into the process and had better diagnosis’s going into the process but a trusted friend who’s at 100 P&T told me to let the process play out and give myself a chance to age a bit as well. It's not too. You have from right now until 12 months after you get out of the military to fall in the presumptive period which means you won't need a nexus. I would camp out at the doctor and get as many diagnosis and you can get your hands on!

I just read online that if you're SC for major depressive disorder with anxiety and developed heart disease it a valid claim to file aggravated secondary. The board of appeals has ruled in favor of the veteran on many occasions

You’re good if anything they won’t deny and will request another C&P for a proper DBQ. Happened to me but didn’t really cause a delay in the claims process. May26 claim filed with 2 c&p exams for MH claim complete July 28 1st payment at 70% with 5 dependents Aug 1.

I'm using HLR (Higher Level Review) after getting a denial from one of my service connected claims, then if it comes back again as the same thing I'm getting an outside veteran lawyer to help me obtain nexus letters to vouch for me. In addition, I can fight it as secondary (sometimes known as aggravated) symptoms.

Good videos. While VA is tough, they will give us the benefit most times. I was diagnosed and treated for OSA 10+ years before retiring; issued CPAP machines twice. A third sleep study showed I didn’t have it. But the VA basically ignored the negative sleep study and gave me a 50% rating for it. @ Combat Craig - can you maybe touch on someday the 3M ear plugs case. There’s some grossly inaccurate idea in some veteran circles that receiving any type of settlement from that case would affect our VA compensation. I call BS on that!

CC, I was awarded 10% bilateral hearing and 10% tinnitus. Using 38 CFR 3.385 my hearing loss should be 50% not 10%. I have a fast C&P meeting at the VA next week. I wonder why it's in person as it is at the administration office not the Audiology Dept. (best guess from you) Are they going to question me on my severity of hearing loss? I scored only 38% & 50% on speech recognition.

Tinnitus is SC for everyone but me 😂. It was in my military records under “History of present illness” and the audiologist wrote that I suffered from a feeling of fullness, with tinnitus and ringing in my ear with the frequency of when it happens and how long it happens. I was denied 10 years ago because they said I did not have a diagnosis in my medical records. I talked to a VSO and showed him that piece of paper in my medical records and he said because Tinnitus wasn’t actually listed under my problem/diagnoses list, it didn’t count as a diagnosis. So yeah, denial for me.

16:48 "...tinnitus is literally service connected for everybody."??? Really? My tinnitus claim was denied. Did my rep screw-up? Two failed back surgeries and no service-connection. Service-connection claims denied for both shoulders, my left foot, and both hips. I have a combined service-connection of 40% for sinus conditions. I worked the flightline, (Air Force), as a Fuels Specialist, (also had LOX Plant qualification). I feel like I've fallen through the cracks. I'm a non-combat veteran, but did a LOT of TDY assignments for training purposes when the first Gulf War happened. I have depression, and have gone through the mental health process. Unsure about PTSD - Non-combat diagnosis. Honestly, I feel the system gave up on me. This all started back in 1992 when I was in California. I moved to Idaho in 1996 and continued the process. Not sure what else I can do. Edit: I forgot to mention that a C&P doctor lied about me having sinus surgery and I lost my 40% rating. I appealed that and got it back, but WTF? I am the unluckiest person in the World? Or just in the VA system?

It’s sort of like being Frocked in the Service by being given the Rank but not the pay. Also it gives them the chance to lose all your information before you can get back to them. Craig, I was rated 100% exactly a year ago for “PTSD with Bi polar disorder and anxious distress with depression”. I feel like I am at least 70% if not 100% for PTSD, anxiety and depression. Would it be worth getting these conditions rated separately so I can get SMC, or will they possibly downgrade my rating and I go back down to 90… I’m to the point where I can’t hold down a job due to my anxiety and inability to get along with people, and I only leave the house unless I absolutely have to. I avoid interactions with people as much as I can whenever I go out.

Tried to get my migraines secondary to tinnitus but was denied because the C&P examiner said there is no proof that tinnitus causes migraines. Got treatment from a neurologist and got more information from PubMed linking tinnitus and migraines. Again I was told no documented connection, this is from a neurologist. I also put in for an increase for my knees. The right knee is bad, left knee is not as bad. My right knee stayed at 10% and my left knee went from 10% to 30% while my combined stayed the same. I see all the time vets getting approved for migraines secondary to tinnitus. It looks like I'm not going to be one of them.

They got me combine with a bunch of 10% on tinnitus my joints, back knees, ankles etc and was diagnosed withsleep apnea last year and it helped my snoring and not my sleep because tinnitus gave me sleep apnea and I brought up to my apnea doctor and my back neck worse and my va primary doctor said they are degenerateive and will continue to get worse.

Worked flight lines with phantom jets for 3 yrs. When I was discharged there was no hearing test and ringing was minimal. Over the yrs the ringing has increased. Filed twice for tinnitus but was denied and told there were no records of it in military files.

Currently dealing with appeals and so far they service connected my tinnitus, left shoulder, PTSD, and hopefully both my elbows. Let’s just say the VA dropped the ball on rescheduling my appointments for a re-eval and I’ve been in this for 10+ years getting it fixed and straightened out. My question is what would be secondary conditions for some of my alignments?

Hello CombatCraig, Thanks for doing this! I got rated for Tinnitus, but I didn't know about secondaries till I saw your videos. Do you have to provide the same 3 (diagnosis, symptoms, nexus letter) for the secondary conditions to Tinnitus and all other primary or anchor conditions?

I filed for increase on 4 disabilities. In April. Then filed for appeal on tinnitus knee back. Vso also filed for new claims. Still haven't herd shit on any of it. Called va and they said there taking on my appeals and new claims and adding it to the increase disabilities that I filed. Sounds like bullshit to me!

I got service connected tinnitus, it is so bad I have told my doctors it drives me crazy and I often wanted to take an ice pick to my ear. Certain sounds makes the ringing worse or my ears hurt. I got to do this. 40 yrs old 90% total

They send me for c and 0p with positive findings and deny, one of my Dba showed 50% for headaches and eye injury and denied the claim, who is reading the medical reports. What is there educational level of the people, I do not believe they are reading reports?

Combat Craig, you are awesome! Question, I claimed migraines secondary to my tinnitus. Was scheduled an over the phone c&p. No one ever called. I called them and the “secretary” said it’s probably because they already had all the info they needed. Is this very common or should I be concerned? Thanks for all you do

This is common, most time it's a records review only c&p. I had my migraine secondary to tinnitus c&p exam, it was a records review only and was rated at 50% #wallstreetthenewhustle
