Thanks for watching SR-556! American eagle 38 and 40 grains do seem to shoot well out of many different 22's. I also love the look of the 9422. Those old Winchesters really were the best 22 lever on the market. Wish they still made them.

CCI is a quality ammo. Sometimes the priming compound does not make it all the way around the rim. You could retry the round by loading the round to be struck in a different location. I have done this many times to get a stubborn round to fire. Don't give up after only one strike. Good Luck

Thank for watching Jim! I had never thought about doing that. I'll give it a try next time.

I was really surprised to see the CCI failure to fire. 2 out of 10 isn’t good. 80% fire rate is unacceptable. They sure looked like they had a hard enough strike too. Good video sir. I love the 22lr. They are a much different animal that any other round that I can think of. Most are very particular about what you feed them and results can be extremely obvious. 👍
@texmexshoots2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Mr. Anderson! I agree that the failure rate has been someone’s high on CCI’s recently. I expect it may have been the rush in production during the last few years when 22s were hard to find.

That was very helpful. I have to watch for the Blazer .22LR. That shot very well. Shocked about the FTF of the CCI Varmint loading. Maybe just one bad lot, but usually you look at CCI as being "the control group" in .22 ammunition. It's the standard the others are judged by. Good shooting!

Anything faster than about 1300fps should have a faster twist rate in order to stabilize the bullet. With the new super-fast Hyper ammo, 1600 - 1700 fps, should probably have a 1;14 - 1;10 rate.
@texmexshoots2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! Hadn't thought about the twist rate. Usually barrel rifling is correlated with bullet wight. But I suppose with 22lr, speed would make a big difference. So you need to spin the faster bullet more to try and stabilize it?
@Jace_Izonn2 жыл бұрын
@@texmexshoots Few have much luck getting tight groups with Hyper Velocity due to the 1;16 twist rate dating back to the days of almost all ammo being standard velocity. I recently read that someone has been experimenting with some faster twist rate barrels and having good luck. I expect Ruger, Savage, CZ, etc. will probably offer various twist rates in the future.

Not quite. That's a great idea though! If I can get my hands on some of those I will do another comparison. I was trying to differentiate it from my last video where I was shooting more standard velocities 22lr (1070fps - 1130fps) as compared to these High Velocity 22lr offerings (1235fps-1260fps) with the one exception of the Winchester "hyper velocity" at 1435fps.

Looks like boxed Blazer are better than the ones in a carton. Them Mini Mags, were they hollow & round nose ones. Man them Winchester are spinning far. One Winchesters I'd like to try are the Silver Tip but all of last year didn't see any. Only ones I see are the 333pk. Also should try the Copper 22 by CCI. They are hyper going at 1800+ 😳. Should build a frame to hold both of those large targets so they won't sway in the wind. I use the 2" Shoot n C stickers. Place a few on a cardboard box like you.
@texmexshoots2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lawrence! Yeah, it didn't feel like a windy day but the targets were swaying back and fourth on the video. I just need to staple them a little lower on the cardboard to keep them from moving so much. The CCI 40gr were round nose but the 36 grain were hollow points. They were the only ones I could get a hold of. Hopefully as ammo starts filling the shelves again, I can try some other brands as well!

Hey Tex Mex, I'm on Rimfire Central & reading/research (& having ☕)about LVT 10/22 or barrels for that matter. One fella said he brought his Ruger to a Gunsmith for work, then told him the LVT Ruger barrel IS made by Green Mountain. They say its bentz chamber, (GM) I looked down my barrel but don't know what "bentz" really looks like. Do you know what to look for in a chamber like Green Mountain?
@texmexshoots2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. All I know about Green Mountain is that they make quality aftermarket barrels for 10/22's. I'd have to do some research to figure that one out. Also, I went out to the property I shoot at this weekend but wasn't able to squeeze in the Blaser (Box vs Bulk) video. Hopefully next time!

CCI is really cranking out some garbage the last few months. Used CCI standard for a long while and was always great, last few batches were covered in wax or glue (big chunks of it), dents in the brass, CCI logo punched shallow and crooked on the bottom. Some rounds were so covered in gunk I couldn't get them out of the black plastic packaging without damaging the round. Now weird enough, the newest batch I have is up to par. Shiny brass, no wax/glue etc. Don't know what's happening over there. Switched to SK Plus, more expensive but flawless stuff.
@texmexshoots Жыл бұрын
SK Plus is great ammo. I agree on the CCI issue. Not sure if they were rushing production for a while trying to catch up with demand and let QC drop. Hopefully the new stuff will stay up to par.

Thought I comment on a separate one. 🤣 When you clean your LVT do you keep it on the reciever? Cause I completely break down mine except the trigger box thingy. So I'll be able to clean the chamber, + that little gap on the barrel. If that's not cleared can cause a build up of powder. And maybe (couldn't really see) but looks like the rifle is really in your bag. Causing the cartridge to maybe bounce back in or not fly out of the receiver. Least your able to get Mini Mags, haven't seen any in a long time.
@texmexshoots2 жыл бұрын
I actually bought the mini-mags and blazer ammo directly from the CCI website. If you keep an eye on it, they occasionally appear in stock. As for cleaning the LVT, I only break it down every now and then to give it a deep cleaning. Usually I will do a quick cleaning by using some sort of gun scrubber/de-greaser spray to get a lot of the powder and residue out of the receiver and chamber. After I'll run a bore-snake soaked in solvent through the barrel. Once the solvent dries, I will oil up the bolt and rail.

Lawrence, the American is 18''. You can tell from the last couple of ammo comparison's that once I sync up the two videos (as best as I can), the bullets always take just a little bit longer to hit the target out of the american. I do plan a some more trick shots soon! I seemed to be upsetting some folks when I was shooting currency, but luckily I found a bunch of game tokens from my girl's younger days. I'll also try some other small targets.

Uggggg, sorry brother, but those are not good groups at all. You wouldn`t want to see the targets from my Ruger 1022 (pencil barrel) targets, nore my wife`s Ruger American 22rimfire targets. Both shoot easy dime size groups @ 50yds. My 1022 LOVES the Aguila Super Extra 40gr solid the best, and runs flawless with no hiccups. My 1022 also LOVES the CCI "Standard" 1070fps ammo. My wifes Ruger American 22 rimfire shoots just about anything she puts in it, averages under dime size groups consistently. We don`t shoot CCI Stingers though, in any of our 22 rimfire guns. I never liked the Stingers anyway. The only 22 rimfire i have that will consistently shoot just under .200 all day, is my CZ457 22 rimfire. I usually shoot SK Match, Eley Match, Wolf Match mainly, but it does real well with the CCI Standard 1070fps ammo too. All of our 22`s are untouched factory stock. Anyway, good shootin there bro! Keep puttin them videos out. Wife an i enjoy watching them! Just a subtle hint.... run 10 rounds thru your cold 22`s first to heat up the barrel a little bit, then move to your target shots.

I agree the groups weren't great. I got much better results in my standard velocity ammo comparison video. I myself have a CZ452 trainer, but haven't scoped it. However I did add a peep site to extend the sight radius. I plan on doing an open sights video with it soon. I've heard great things from SK, Eley and Wolf Match. However the only real target ammo I have used is the Eley Target and Federal Gold. The Eley outshines the Federal. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the advice and support!
