Thank you for documenting this! Two questions tough: For the second layer of wire (0:50) and the isolated wires connected to all ends (2:15) you didn’t specify the gauge (awg). Any chance you remember what you used or what you recommend me use? Also, do the same components work with a 14.8V batterie or do I need a different resistor for that voltage?

Coil may be not insulated properly or transistor may be burnt

40 kV? don't make me laugh, the air dielectric strength is about 3000V / mm. You get close to fire the arc and after that you just have an electric arc that you can stretch, you can see for example an arc welding.🤣

Same, looks like 4kv, there was not enough turns on the secondary windings, 300 turns secondary, 12 turns primary is only 1 to 25 ratio times 3.5 volts makes 87.5 volts, now I've done the maths, I smell a rat
