Interesting demonstration. What happens if you substitute a ferris material for the aluminum plate? More or less effective? If using a ferris material does this process leave a residual magnetic property in the metal? If you placed a cassette tape on top of the coil and fired it, can you play the tape through a tape player with an oscilloscope hooked up to the output and view the signal induced into the magnetic tape?

As per Lenz law this will happen if current applied to the coil is ac but not dc. The cap bank dischargs dc voltage to the coil?

Is this cap bank enough to produce 'flash graphene?" I am looking for a high voltage bank that will dump everything very, very quickly. The best idea ive come up with is using a arc welder, but this doesnt produce the current needed to convert anything, except high quality grafite that ive already reduced to multi layer graphene. If you might be so inclined, the graphene industry and those of us actively researching its mass production would be more than grascious for some guidence on creating such a device.

If the current through the inductor decreases, the magnetic field strength decreases, and the energy in the magnetic field decreases. This energy is returned to the circuit in the form of an increase in the electrical potential energy of the moving charges, causing a voltage rise across the windings. Sudden voltage spike seen across an inductive load(coil) when its supply current is suddenly reduced or interrupted.

The capacitor rating. Yes, overvolting can make the caps explode

@@manla8397 why not use a zener diode to bias pnp in series with the caps. Wouldn't what reduce the need for expensive high wattage zeners

Repeat the test with a coil by the place of aluminum and prove it would jump higher. You can do all kind of tests by changing the projectile
