The slide-in-slot trick is great if you gotta mount your NST on a big something you don't wanna move! If it's just a wood plank, it's probably less of a workout to put your NST on the table upside down or on its side and let it rest while you screw the plank onto it, and then you can move the assembly wherever you want. Great video as usual!

Always mount your NST to a structure heavier/more rigid than the NST. Otherwise you're mounting the structure to the NST.

I want to take part in this. What voltage and amperage nst do I need to buy? I saw a franceformer 12kv 30ma transformer on Amazon and am wondering if that’ll work?

A Franceformer 12kv 30ma transformer is excellent. The big thing to worry about is if it has an GFCI or not. The ones with GFCI's are unusable and will trip off if used. Some people claim to have been able to get them to work, but they are nothing but trouble if you are first starting out. Also stay away from the solid state ones. If it doesn't look close to what Chris shows in the video, pass on it and find one that does. You can sometimes recognize the NST's with GFCI's as they usually have a reset button on one end, and sometimes have a small indicator light. The label will also list "Fault" or "Diagnostic" codes on it. A good place to look online is Ebay. Be careful though. The good NST's for Tesla coils are getting hard to find, and some sellers try to hide or advertise that it doesn't have a GFCI because they can sell them at higher prices. I had one guy I bought an NST from, somehow shove the GFCI into the case and then hot glued and spray painted the holes to hide it. Good Luck

You mentioned in another video that you don't want a shiny new NST. I'm not sure you ever said why?

The new ones have GFI circuits in them that make coiling difficult at best, and often impossible.

Hey, brotha! I really enjoy your videos. Do you still build Tesla Coils? I've been working on my SGTC design for the last few months. I just recently, (well, today actually) completely rebuilt the primary LC circuit, new ground strike rail, new aluminum toroid, and a few other things to. I haven't been able to do the initial test yet, but I will be able to do it in a few days I hope. I don't have an oscilloscope to assist me with all the numbers and calculations. I, unfortunately, have to do all of the 'mathmatizing' myself.🤤😂
