I remember that, my father was helping to build dams. Many people were parking cars in my part of the city, water never reached my estate. But we all were without fresh water anyway. I was kid, going for water to the pumps on allotment gardens. That water was used mostly for toilet and plants. City was distributing also fresh water in water carts. Some women were fighting in store near my home for last bread or last mineral water when it started. My grandmother didn't survived aftermatch. She got sick and died weeks after flood ended. After her death, my grandfather passed away few months later after long sickness. City was dirty and stinky for very long time. Many houses were destroyed, everywhere was mud from river.

For those who have not heard that story, the melody that starts at 1:21 is from a song "Moja i Twoja Nadzieja" (Mine and Your Hope), by Polish band Hey, which was released in 1993; then in July 1997 a cover was recorded for a charity event, to collect money for the flood victims. It's also known as "Nic, naprawdę nic" (Nothing, nothing really), from the first line of the chorous ("Nothing, nothing will really help if you don't help love today"). This cover was later sung by some of the most popular Polish singers of the 1990s, such as Edyta Bartosiewicz, Natalia Kukulska, Maryla Rodowicz or Czesław Niemen.
