Another thought on swinging spoons is watch the the steelhead fly fishers, when the spoon hits the water kick a mend in to the line, the spoon will sink to the bottom right away, then stay just in front of the tension with your rod trip which will slow the spoon way down. This will allow the spoon maximum time where the fish are holding.

I’m currently struggling in the high water by me! Rain has been on our radar for the past month and it was just non stop heavy steady rain. It was windy today, we’ve marked a few fish around 7-12ft in my river and we didn’t catch any fish but we saw a few here and there surface jumpers. Hopefully I can tune in to your guys’ channel for me to hook onto my first steelhead!! Very pumped for a nice female spawner!! Great video and thank you!!

I've watched old timers catch fish 14" from the bank in chocolate milk sludge before, and I mean zero viziblity! I thought they were crazy until they pulled a fish in. This was out on the Wallowa river outside of LaGrande OR.

I've had amazing feedback from the people I've been sharing these educational videos with back east. I find it interesting how different we fish out west as to what they do in the east. These videos are inspiring these people to try something new in hope of landing more fish! The plus in this one Marlin... is you catching one during the tutorial! Yet another great one! Keep em coming!!

My favorite way to fish steelhead is inside seams...I'm more often than not running a fly through them with very good success. I am excited to use a bobber/worm set up on my fly rod. I am more comfortable casting with my fly rod and can be much more precise. That said it is all new for me and I very much appreciate videos like this.

@@cisco206pnw pick one within an hour or so and learn it. Super easy to get overwhelmed and chase reports. You won't hammer them by driving 2 hours to River A one day then to River B the next then River C because you heard it was fishing well. You have to do the same. But you might have to get more extreme with your presentation. Definitely bright colors such as chartreuse, Cherise. A lot of weight to keep,it pegged to the bottom. And then bait, such as spawn sacs, tube jigs tipped with wax worms. Everything I just mentioned is critical to success on high water days! Last I will give a mention to attitude. Don’t expect to have a 25 fish day. When the River is blown out. Good luck!!!!
