Nice equipment! You're looking good for catching lots more shinies, lots faster. Heh, yeah, oops happen. We all get them. Great video Brother! Took it in stride, and produced the gold for us at the end. Well done!

That's a great looking highbanker! I kicked over a worked down pan I did and it when in the water and gone. I felt little sick to my stomach over it. I can only imagine how you guys felt spilling that much. All we can do is learn it and push on. You guys get a lot larger gold there than we do here. We only have pretty much is micro flood gold. Great video, please keep em coming...

Your comments on how you set up your sluice I think is probably the most accurate I’ve heard since I first got my dream mat. I searched for hours and hours trying to find instructions on how to set it up to run the best way possible and never found what I was looking for. But since I have been using mine basically every weekend since I got it I have learned how to get my sluice running the best I can. I don’t know what angle it might be or anything like that, I just know by seeing what is happening with the material. And I think that’s probably the best way for anyone to learn, just get out in the creek and learn how your equipment works for you.
@X4PROSPECTING2 жыл бұрын
Yep exactly! It’s all trial and error and then fine tuning it once you get your setup down. What works in California or Alaska might not be the best for what we have here in NC. It’s all about getting to know your equipment! 👍 keep digging it man!

It was defiantly beautiful weather and that alone makes for an amazing day! As for the cons, well that just sucks but its not a total loss, the story will live on and that is something for sure. The high banker looks like it worked nicely and looking forward to more videos of it catching the gold. The gold looked great and looks like you had alot of fun and hard work. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Justin, very nice there. Love the high banker/sluice set up and finally see it in action. The first part to this video I seen that John about fall backwards during the high banker sluice part of the video. Sucks that you and John lost the concentrates from that session. But you saved the day with another sluice run at your favorite creek and got on the Gold. Awesome save on that one, Justin. 👍

@@X4PROSPECTING no problem, bud. I actually found a very nice place about a few miles from the house from over the weekend with my son. This place is ozone falls and there is about a 100 ft waterfall there and I am going to try and take a day and check out the exposed cliff faces cause I seen a layer of ancient river gravels as well as nice areas to scout and look at.

Is there a little crashbox or plate under there to divert water?
@X4PROSPECTING2 жыл бұрын
Nope, with the angles just right the water doesn’t go over the front of the sluice. Was talking to Paul at Adventures in Gold Prospecting about this and I was thinking I can add something there if I needed to, but it doesn’t look like I need to. Works great

The stream sluice sure looks great, what size is it? Is it the sluicebox from the Adventurer Highbanker 10" x 48"?

I tried that, the bucket fell straight into the pond and that pond is literally about 6-8ft deep right where it fell in at, trust me I tried lol

Nice rig, yo! Curious about the pump -- like, how many GPH were you pushing? Color me wrong, but that gas pump dialed down looks way hotter than even the 2000 GPH battery pump I've been using on a 6" mini highbanker + dream mat config. Depends upon the material one has and the type of gold to be found, of course. Cheers!
@X4PROSPECTING2 жыл бұрын
It’s around 2100 GPH as well, it’s reduced to 3/4” at the spray bar making it higher pressured. Bilge pumps don’t have the PsI like gas pumps do

When i first started placer mining back in '72 i would take what i could out of my pan and stick it in a little glass vial. The cons i'd put in a bucket to run later. The jeweler up in Breckenridge would by my gold and would by the garnets off my wife. Well, we were sitting by the river one night and a friend of ours stopped by to see how we were doing , o i showed him my vial which was over half full and we walked over to the river,placing the vial in my shirt pocket. Then we walked out in the river and i grabbed the shovel and bent down to get a scoop and put in my pan. Then i squatted down and showed him how to pan. When i got done i was going to show him how i pick up the gold and reached into my pocket and it was gone. At least a half ounce went floating down the river while i was panning. Lesson 1 as a newbie, don't put your vial of gold in your shirt pocket. #2 when you put the gold away for the night, leave it there. #3 if friend comes to camp to learn how to pan gold? Tell him tomorrow :-) Happens to the best of us.

Hahaha that’s a great story, but it taught you a lesson, same with this video; don’t put the cons bucket anywhere it can spill over! Lol
