I loved the Midnight Special as a kid. All kinds of music -live- and starting at Midnight! It was a real treat!

As usual, a great performance by the R&B legend Jackie Wilson nicknamed "Mr. Excitement!" Am I assuming the audience was told NOT to clap? I would have been dancing in my seat!!!

As the horns made their emblazoned entrance I could only imagine what those lucky souls in that room felt that night… and suddenly all the years between this performance and this amazing morning disappeared as Jackie’s energy and enthusiasm explode onstage - with all the original enthusiasm and optimism perfectly preserved… forever. Thank you AGAIN Midnight Special!! 🎉🎶🌟

So great & uplifting. Perfect singer for this song as his falsettos are well sooo high! Drummer is on fire also. Wish more people like the lady about 1:00 we're on their feet loving it.

I liked his '67 recording of this song. Still sounded great in '74 hitting those high notes! Only missing the backup singers. Snazzy red outfit matched the red letters! ❤ 😊💜

Did The Midnight Special have a "house band" for solo performers like Jackie Wilson, or did they bring their own band?

After reading comments I had to read part of Jackie’s BIO. It looks like he had a heart attack in the mid-70s while performing then he died, I think in 1984, from complications due to pneumonia. I’m not sure if the two events were related. I don’t know when this was filmed but I’m guessing it was pretty close to his heart attack. Anyways the fans in this crowd - and comments here as well - seem about as excited as I am when the WNBA season starts. What does WNBA stand for again?
