Higher Education as a Field of Study

While higher education as a field is interdisciplinary, it is distinctive from other disciplines that encompass postsecondary-related concerns, such as economics, sociology, anthropology, and psychology. This video offers insight into how higher education became a separate area of inquiry within social science research. It also provides an overview of the topics and issues encompassed within “higher education” scholarship as well as a discussion of what is not typically considered to fall within the boundaries of “higher education” scholarship.
