The available evidence suggests that immigration leads to more innovation, a better educated workforce, greater occupational specialization, better matching of skills with jobs, and higher overall economic productivity. Immigration also has a net positive effect on combined federal, state, and local budgets. But will be the same now?

The U.S. government estimated the undocumented population to be some eleven million people in 2022. This total represents a slight decrease from 11.8 million before the 2008 economic crisis, which led some immigrants to return to their home countries and discouraged others from coming to the United States. In fiscal year 2023 (FY 2023), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehended nearly 2.5 million people trying to illegally cross the southern U.S. border, a record high.
Until 2013, almost all of those trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border were Mexican citizens, and most were individuals seeking work. Between 2013 and 2021, most immigrants came from Asia, particularly China and India. Mexico has since regained its status as the top country of origin, and Central Americans have made up an increasingly larger share of migrants at the southern U.S. border. Generally, they are coming not for work but to make asylum claims, and many of them are unaccompanied children. Some of these immigrants have different legal rights from Mexican nationals in the United States: Under a 2008 anti-human trafficking law, unaccompanied minors from noncontiguous countries have a right to a hearing before being deported to their home countries. The increase in Central American migration has strained the U.S. immigration system. At the end of FY 2023, there were nearly 2.8 million cases pending in immigration courts, the most on record.

The Puerto Rican numbers are wrong. Puerto Rico was part of Spain until 1898, but you have them at 293,000 by then. Something is wrong with these numbers. I've seen it on other videos, too. There just wasn't that many Puerto Ricans in the 19th Century in total. Are you sure it isn't supposed to be another, different country? They first show up in 1851.

Mexicans did not build the state. Mexico appealed to the settlers of the Midwestern territories to relocate into its territory north of the Rio Grande to acquire a free parcel of land and thereby populate it. It had been practically barren before becoming northern-European in its ethnic makeup by these transplants, who were largely protestant. Ultimately, it would be no longer willing to be under a nation as different in its language, religion and customs -- and remotely located south of the River -- as Mexico. Mexico should have foreseen this outcome before it started to draw new settlers from the upper Midwest.

The reason why the majority of people in the United States today do not have roots to their origins, mainly those of European origin, has to do with the fact that being a country of immigrants, they did not want an ethnic group to become absolute when they were building an identity. more based on things like Language, Christian Religion, things of that style and from the end of the 19th century, Afro-descendants would also do so over the years. This with the African ethnic groups that came to finally define the United States in the 1930s as a country founded by European and African Immigrants, which is why groups like the KKK or Neo-Nazi Groups have never been successful since, as has been said for decades, The United States is a country of Immigrants, whether White, Black or from the same American continent as Mexicans and Caribbeans.

The Anglo-Saxons, Northern Europeans, and Irish built the USA, and things started going downhill in the 1960s. The work ethic, and the settling of the wilderness building a nation based upon Judeo-Christian values, culture, and religion made America Great. Once you start bringing in people who are not or will be compatible with your values, culture, or way of life, people who will not integrate, intermarry, and people who have a more medieval mindset, it is the beginning of the end

Bear in mind that prior to 1820 the British/English had been moving to US in large numbers for a long time., and even after that. The very backbone of the US both culturally and in ancestry, is British/English through and through. All Americans should read the book "Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America".

It is interesting. Americans never say they have English ancestry. When I did my dna ancestry, I expected lots of Irish and English because my father is Irish and my mother is English. And I did. What I didn't expect was to have just as many living (distant) relatives on the map in the US, Canada and Australia as I do in England and Ireland. Looking deeper into it, I found many generations of my family on both sides had siblings who either didn't survive childhood or emigrated from England and Ireland to those 3 countries. Strange to see the same pattern from both sides of the families. And strange that my ancestors were in the minority who chose to stay. One generation in particular the oldest male inherited everything. He took off for America and died in the American Civil War. His younger brother inherited a small farm in Devon from him that stayed in our family until about 10 years ago. My ancestor who inherited that farm was saved from poverty. So yay Civil War 😅

@ you are conflating citizenship with statehood. Puerto Ricans are indeed American citizens, they however don’t have a right to vote in federal elections as they have no congress or senate representation. They do have the right to move to any US state they choose, where they are then entitled to vote. It’s a difference between individual rights and statehood or territorial rights.
