In Pennsylvania the 15 goes for $105 and I'm a little surprised there may be batch variation but if you let it sit and put a little water in it, the flavor is smoked bacon

Nice one Erik. I know a lot of people who struggle with this one even though they like the 10 or the 12. Interestingly my 15 is a lot more yeasty and estery than spicy, I wonder if batch variation is big on these. The Dark Origins was good but the 17 The Dark was fantastic. I'm with you on the CS releases as well and if you find a single cask 11-15 year old HP they do tend to be brilliant. I think Highland Park would get much more respect if they just stopped putting out way too many expressions. It does tend to get a bit tedious. Cheers!

Blending the 18 and CS is fun…80/20 in either direction creates 2 fantastic pours. The 18 on its own tastes amazing, but is just lack luster and makes me sad they produce this for the masses. I would gladly pay $200 for the the 18 at 50%. Same with Talisker.

From what I'm seeing, the latest release of the 15 year, in the 700ml bottle, is their regular embossed glass. The ceramic appears to be no more.

The 15 is what i drink most of…I love the profile of the 18…but the price has gone up so much here in Ohio..($175) that i don’t buy it as often…

Excellent review, Erik. I haven't had the 15 yo, so I cannot comment on that. I like the 12 yo (which was my gateway whisky back in the days), the cask strength and I have a 18 yo 46% ABV travellers' edition in stock that I definitely look forward to uncorking some fine day. Regarding the "What's the point?" question with regards to the bottle, I have more comments/questions in that area regarding HP in general. Being Danish, the HP viking theme is just a huge turn off for me, though I should definitely just disregard and ignore it. But I can't... The vikings drank mead and beer. Mead and beer. Not whisky (I'll stand corrected if proven otherwise, of course, but I just haven't read in ANY history lectures that the vikings were whisky drinkers) So the viking theme for Highland Park is just marketing flannel, as a certain Isle of Man resident would label it. (I've read rumours that they're gonna abandon the viking theme in a not too distant future, I'll appreciate that for sure) Sorry... that was a bit of a rant. To finish the comment on a positive note... I really enjoyed your review. Thanks and cheers!
