I’ve had the Task Racing light for 6-7 years and got it when they were first starting out. The original was GoPro mounted which I always mounted on top of my helmet (even though I mount my actual GoPro to the chin bar). 2 things… having the Task on top of your helmet gives you better angles and depth from the light. Also, your visor shadows your bike so no worries on lighting up your bike. I’ve never mounted it on the side of my helmet. I’ve seen guys ride with 2 lights which would be crazy bright. The Task Racing kit also comes with tabs to stick to your helmet on the back so the cord isn’t flopping around (which it will, we tested it) and keeps from getting caught on branches. I don’t like the new design Task went with so I love the light and the GoPro mount design. I want to try out the Desert Unlimited light soon.

I just wish you had tested them with a headlight. How they work alone is kind of irrelevant because 99.9%of riders will have a headlight when doing night rides. Maybe do a test with a XC-w using the stock headlight for reference

Stock headlight is junk on all bikes. If you want to go fast at night you need a big headlight, and 2 helmet lights.

I wish you would have ridden a trail that you didn't know very well (but is that even possible) so that you had to totally depend on the light and not be assisted by your memory of the trail. I have quite a few amazon lights that were cheap but the batteries are often the weak point, die too quick, totally die after a barely any use, or not sealed/waterproof.

It would be hard to find a trail close that I don’t know. But I wasn’t going for speed so the memory doesn’t really matter.
