Having a mount that breaks fairly easy in a crash might just save somebody from a neck injury, but I’m old and break easy😬

Totally, that’s why the magnet and Velcro mounts are great. They “breakaway “ easily but then can be re mounted easily.

Thanks for all that info.. I don't do night rides, but I do ride pretty much all year and with it getting dark early in winter, might be a good idea to have a back up helmet light.

can you use the dango mount with the desert unlimited light? with that light being bigger would it be awkward on the front of your helmet?

Stunned you didn’t try Cyclops Explorer 2 or Oxbow Voyager. I used the cyclops on the bike and oxbow on the helmet in the Starvation Ridge 24hr last year. Best lights and hardware.

The Dango is the same light as the Oxbow and I wasn’t approached by Cyclops. I might try one eventually but I can say that the baja designs lights that MotoMinded and Desert Unlimited use are seriously good. I have spent more than a few nights racing all night and they are amazing!

You briefly mentioned that these lights heat up pretty good in your video on runtime, do you think they get hot enough to burn if you were to grab the light with your bare hands, or would you be ok?

You would be ok but they get hot. They shed heat well though. I’ve never had them even feel hot while riding because of airflow

With the side mounted lights does the helmet create any blind spots or shadowing on the opposite side of the light?

With the older Task Racing light mounted on a GoPro mounting system was key for me since we all have GoPro’s and a bag of mounts so if it breaks it’s free to swap out and it’s good that it breaks instead of your neck. The new Velcro on Task Racing seems pretty burly so I’d be worried that the Velcro wouldn’t break away or would still give your neck quite a tug. Also I’m not a fan of low profile since I like having it on top and it can shoot past my helmet visor. So I like the Desert Unlimited idea to use the GoPro mount. My helmet already has the mount stuck to it. The MotoMinded magnet sounds like a good idea, I’d have to see it for myself. But to not come with a battery is a no sale for me. 👎 The rest come with batteries.

Agree about the moto minded. The magnet is really really good. The DU is really the best all in all. I know they are fixing the cord issue now and hopefully they will have some break away situation in the future to make it excellent.
