Coffee is life for this retired military/LEO!!! AND a Rekluse will always be on my required equipment list when a new bike is considered. Using a Rekluse with my average skills equals longer rides, less fatigue and more fun. 👍🏼

I added a Rekluse to my 1999 KTM 300 EXC. I love it. It has eliminated arm pump in hare scrambles and has allowed me to focus on other things like body position and generally trying to not kill myself. I'm a beginner/C class rider.

You can control how much engine brake can you get with the springs provided in the kit there's three different colored springs and different combinations of the springs will provide more or less engine braking

The only thing with the torque drive manual it hooks up so hard it has been known to destroy the rubber dampeners in the HUB on the back of the basket

I used to be anti Rekluse, but bought a bike for my daughter(KTM 400) that had a rekluse, she loved it, and I liked it too. I put on a LHRB for her, and I loved it so much, I added a LHRB to my 530, but sometimes going downhill, and enjoying the precise rear braking, my rear brake would fade due to me not pulling in the clutch(rookie mistake), lol Daughter has a Core 3.0 in her KTM 350XC, man are they better than the 2.0 EXPs(they are still getting Better!, thanks Rekluse) I'll trade up dirt bikes next spring, and I'll buy a young used bike with a Radius CX installed(4 stroke), I really enjoy that Core 3.0(buttery smooth experience) in my daughters 350, FUN, FUN, FUN. She uses the clutch as normal when she starts and stops, the rekluse just saves a stall(which can lead to a dirt nap) a couple times a ride when things go south(happens to me every ride, lol) OX brake, I'll research more, sometimes I struggle bleeding a Rekluse LHRB, that small hydro line hates to let go of air bubbles, usually takes me 3 bleeds to get it right(my fAULT, NOT REKLUSES), I use vacuum, and push fluid back and forth with big syringes, I just don't get it right the first time. Hats off to Rekluse as a company I'll support for years to come. Soon I need a KTM 300, I hope it already comes with a rekluse, but will want time without one for giggles.

Morgan~ thank you for another great one. Have ridden with Rekluse & without. In the big picture I prefer without. Though if my Freeride had a kickstart I would of given Rekluse another try. Do believe that Rekluse does NOT make you a better rider but, does make most ride better. KUDOS

I’m a huge proponent of a rekluse and as you stated you should know proper clutch control to start with. What lead me down the rekluse rd was big 2-strokes. A CR500 in nasty stuff is actually amazingly good just because of the huge low down torque.....the bad is they have a very bad tendency to cough and stall with a small fly wheel and super long stroke. The kind of cough and stall that literally throws you over the bars. I was a very early convert to a auto crutch for the big bores. My biggest problem with them is on the truly big hillclimbs. Not anything a 250 2-stroke or a 450 4-stroke can climb legitimately on a regular basis, I mean the big nasty ones! I will typically hit those wfo in 3rd at the base and try not to let off even a fraction. If there is some vert at the top and run a crutch you better be really careful cause if you peddle the throttle you’re screwed. I’m talking some pretty skewed results smallest dirtbike I ride is a 500 2-stroke. On the flip side of that is my 570 Berg. It does not stall very often, but I have a rekluse on the shelf for it. To close out I have to argue the z-start clutches are totally badass if you know how to tune them. It takes some serious time to get that figured out though, more than most riders are willing to invest.

Prospector soils good stuff. I will have to agree to disagree on the Z start. My biggest complaint on those is that when the motor is at idle, there is no clutch feel at all. You have to give throttle to get it to work. That may be fine in higher speed stuff and climbing but in the right stuff it feels really really weird. Let’s get together and shoot something with a cannon soon.

Hear is my 2 cents a auto clutch makes big boy bikes act like the Honda 50s ,70s, 90s some of us stated on. They are great for those that didn't gain the skills of ridding a adult bike. That sed the Recluse product is amazing and the customer service is second to none. And a true usa made product. If I had to race a 450 kick only mx bike in a really tough off road race for some reason I might run one . However in a true off road 2 stroke I see no need and can't stand the vague engagement when popping logs and writing technical stuff. It does get a little better with a tight set up.

I love my recluse Auto clutch it works just like a manual clutch when you want to stab the clutch or slip the clutch it hooks up better than my stock clutch and it has lasted four races seasons that's right four years of woods racing on the same steals fibers basket pressure plate inner hub everything every part of that clutch has lasted 4 years with no issues and when I say 4 years I race gnccs 3 hours netra Wich is 2hrs every weekend for 4 years

Will it eliminate rear wheel chatter caused by engine breaking going down big hills on a 4t with your clutch disengaged when rear braking is the answer but I was curious when cresting a big hill and and dropping down something steep does the rekluse sence or react and settle a rear chatter ? Thank bro, new viewer here. Just bought the 450RX and love extreme trails and top speed and it’s hard to gear it low for tight trails and cruise 60 mph and top it out over 90 without going rekluse. I know I can never make this bike as good as me xcw 300 for extreme enduro just want to eliminate the stalling with the amount of clutch work needed when you put a high geared beast on a goat trail. I’m leaning towards flywheel and heavy clutch basket , but may give the rekluse a go, kicking it around.
@highlandcycles
@highlandcycles 4 жыл бұрын
Man, that is tough. It will eliminate or at least minimize stalling but it won't eliminate the chatter. If the rekluse doesn't freewheel then it acts just like a normal clutch. It only freewheels when the bike drops all the way to an idle. So for instance, if you come up over a steep hill but don't drop all the way to an idle then the bike will act like it doesn't have a rekluse. If you drop to an idle as you go over it will free wheel like you are in neutral until you blip the throttle. Sounds like you might want to do a flywheel weight first. If that is better but not quite good enough maybe go to a rekluse. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Removing the clutch lever all together and putting a left hand brake is not a good idea to me I still always slip my clutch with the recluse when I need to and who doesn't use the clutch to stab the bike into a wheelie

I've gone through 2x oem clutches and 1x tusk clutch on my 2018 yz450f timbersled. Clutches last about 3 rides for me on the timbersled. Do you think the radius cx or the torque drive is best for my application? I'm worried about shredding the dampers in the basket up with the ton of torque that gets transfered to the drive system. What do you think works best for this application? Oh yeah on a dirtbike I never ride a rekluse, and I feel like I don't even need one. I ride trials too and loading the flywheel up to get over stuff is something I do all the time.

Man that sounds odd. I’ve never heard of someone tearing up clutches that fast. I wouldn’t run a Rekluse if that’s what is happening to stock ones. I think you’ll ruin it quickly. I’d look at a full Hinson set up.

I ride a KTM 300xcw with a stock clutch, traction control, and an 11oz weight and it rarely rarely stalls riding mostly in 3rd gear. I might switch to a Rekluse manual when this one gets tired but would probably never use the auto because this 300 is just so easy to ride. My 2 cents

managing freewheeling and rolling backwards on a hill sounds more terrifying than stalling. But Id like you to convince me otherwise... because my 350 does stall from time to time in the chunk....

I’m not going to convince you. I do think they have more of a place on modern 4T’s because they like to stall. My best advice would be to get a 2T 🤣😂

@@highlandcycles I agree! Being a short dude who likes to try trails above his belt with buddies, I stall out on rocky hill climbs often . I LOVE being able to stall out in gear and jump off the bike to avoid crashing. Sounds like I might "need" a 2nd bike 🤷‍♂️ In all honesty tho thanks for the insight ! I have been researching this for a few weeks because my KTM shop said these are the "shit" on excf's. I have not found a single review online from folks who don't start off their review with "im older now" or " as a beginner" . Not to mention even going over the cons. This is especially considering these clutches have recieved some big improvements in recent times, so it seems. There are 100 install videos tho haha Thanks man 👊🍻

Thanks for the question. It will slip for you down low in the RPM and help keep you moving but I know a few people who have raced romaniacs and all of them said they would not have wanted a Rekluse for that kind of terrain. The clutch is great but it robs some power and snap.
