Good to hear that you're still on the trail. Harper's Ferry is awesome. Please stop at South Mt. Inn. Great food excellent area to camp just before you get to the Inn and Washington Monument. I've enjoyed every post. Please keep them coming. You're doing a great job.

You do such a great job making these videos all while battling the rain and the trail, thanks very much! Also love all the tips and info you give, very well done! I gotta get to that brewery, looked awesome! Best of luck down the trail!

Hey Man. Been loving your videos and the prep hikes very informative. Your winter overnight check story about your grandfather was very inspiring. In the planning stage for 2017. A motto i've made for myself is: One foot stepping out. One foot stepping away from the world that holds me in. I believe your doing the same. Be safe and Gods speed.

So happy to finally see the INSIDE of that brewery. I don't know about others, but I really like seeing some of the points of interest *off* the trail. Anyway, love your videos, I've been following from the beginning, and I'm rooting for you! Go, Highlander!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Nelson County. I've hiked down the south side of Three Ridges...coming up on those wet rocks would be tricky! We're all sick of the rainy days, too....I think your time in the Shenandoah will be sunnier...and lots warmer! Rhododendrons and mountain laurel should be blooming!

Great commentary as always! Hope the rest helps Nomad so the two of you can continue on together. Praying for sunny weather and blue skies for you! ☀️

Love Merrell. They fit my foot better than any other shoe, new balance comes in second. I had a pair of Salomons, but they were just to narrow. Thanks for the updates. Enjoy watching the videos.

Great vid, Have been to Cole Mt. bald a few times. Yes the Back bone is the tops. Very nice folks, I tried three ridges one time years ago and gave up, to much for me. Sorry to hear Nomad had more problems, Did you see Spy Rock, you had to go right by it on the trail, it would be on your right side of the trail. Huge rock. The Priest Mt. shelter is a favorite day hike for me, or at least it was. Nice shot of the Swinging Bridge at RT.56. Hike on be safe have fun. Dave

Thank you for taking me along on your hike. Best wishes to you and Nomad. Hope he heals quickly. Maybe a few extra days of rest. Sure seems like a lot of poison ivy!!! Any problems with it? Take care and God be with you.

Thanks for the update, I was beginning to worry about you and Nomad. I'm sure all this rain has been making you a little anxious to get further north.

One foot in front of the other Highlander.When on my outdoor adventures I`m mostly solo due to my work keeping from making plans with my friends with regular jobs.The people you meet & friendships in the outdoors are special. I hope Nomads problems heal & strengthen but if they persist & look like you`re going to be held back from completing your objective then you may have to make the call & move on.Good call on going forward with this difficult section. You`re doing great buddy.

Area you & Nomad heading towards reminds of the John Denver song: - Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue ridge mountain, Shenandoah river, Life is old there, older than the trees, Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place I belong, West Virginia, Mountain mamma, take me home Country roads Appreciate if you could show us the Blue Ridge Mountain and Shenandoah River at Harper's Ferry. Walk safe looking forward

I usually meet Thru hikers in Vernon. Then I can shuttle you into town for resupply. There is a hostel there and a hotel. The road crossing is just before you start the long climb up Wawayanda Mountain. Let me know a day or so in advance as it's a one hour drive for me to get up there.

Glad that you are ok High58. Watching your video now. For my IAT hike of NB has changed dates to 24 jun to 10 July 16. I will uploaded them daily starting 15 August 16. So you will have some hopefully awesome video to watch when you finish your hike. So in closing hope all is well with you. On another note, The hiking Vikings have started a really cool raffle websites and once they reach donation goals, he orders that item from REI, does a gear review and announces the winner. So for all wannabe hikers, go check it out... Between the blazes Patreon website.

My wife and I are enjoying following your journey and are planning to do the trail when we retire in a few years. One question : what model of Merrill shoe did you buy yesterday?

Hi Highlander. Is that area a good place to do a section hike? Looking at 3 days 2 nights give or take. Thought maybe that would be a good place to end up. Sounds like they are very worthy of our support. Thanks again for all the great videos. Take care Adam

58. I really enjoy your videos. I'm 53 and one day I hope to follow in your footsteps. For now my buddy and I knock out a section every 2 months. We've covered from I-40 to Damascus. The Smokies are next up for us. My question to you is do you bother wearing bug repellent and worry about getting Lyme disease ?
@highlander58528 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a plan. I have bug stuff and check daily for ticks.....
