Just watched it again and what matters is where the ball is when it left his hand and where the ball is when caught. The ball is at least 2 feet past the line and caught inches from the line making it a lateral. Go to Titan tube Ep.5 (yes I know they're biassed but the footage doesn't lie) clear cut.

I too have seen the version where it shows the sideline cam and it's almost an optical illusion. But the ball is thrown in such a weird sidearm way and caught behind the player that it just looks like a forward pass.
