Hi Jen, I just saw your great presentation of the Carls Emslandtraube and heard your unbelieveable kind words about my grandpa Carl Schniedergers as their breeder. I will share the video with the other family members. I'm sure, they will love it as well. In a time we are still sad about the death of my lovely grandfather Carl, but also filled with gratitude for his very long life and all the great memories, it is heart warming to see, how other tomato-lovers like you value his Carls Emslandtraube too. The plant at you looks pretty good in my opinion. Probably the number of blossoms on one panicle will even increase, when the temperature at you may cool down a bit. Sometimes the panicles are nearly like multiflora-types with more than 40 blossoms each, mostly between 10 and 20. But it's quite variable. However, I hope, you will have a high yield and maybe you like the taste of the fruits as much as Carl, his children, grandchildren and the great-grandchildren allways did...😊 Thanks a lot for preserving the legacy of Carl! I'm sure, he is looking down from heaven and is very pleased about your video as well. Very best regards to you and everyone, who will grow the Carls Emslandtraube in future from germany! Tim

Hi Jen , it translates to the city he’s from and traube means grape . You should name it carls German grape in his honor then I will gladly purchase some or swap you at the next shamrock swap. You are doing awesome. Oh and I speak pretty good German if you need help translating let me know. I have a cousin in Frankfurt Germany also.

Hello, this is Tim, the grandson of Carl. It would be great, if the name of the variety, which Carl chose himself would stay "Carls Emslandtraube", also in countries with other languages. Because it is a proper name and if there appear translations the original name might become lost...

Tim

Wow. That’s so awesome. I’d love to know German. I think it’s a very beautiful language. I won’t change the name of his tomato though even though I have trouble pronouncing it. It’s his tomato and the name should definitely stay the same as he intended it to be. But thanks for sharing what it means. 😊

Yes I spoke with Tim, he asked to keep the name unchanged and I now agree. I wouldn’t want my family heritage changed either. Tim is a super great guy and you are so blessed to be a part of a wonderful story. Jim
