Bear Bryant caused a rule change in college football by using tear-away jerseys with an extra one carried in the player's pants. If his jersey gets destroyed by an attempted tackle during the play, he can pull out the extra and put it on before the next snap and never miss a play. The rules now require the player to be out for a play or his team call timeout if a jersey gets destroyed.

the non fair catch one 1:10 ish, shouldnt be a touchdown, i get it no fair catch was called, but seeing how close the defending team was he would have absolutely gotten leveled had they hit him, it would have definitely been a penalty on some ground of either hitting before fully caught or the whole hitting a defenseless player thing. idk just my opinion, based on how rules are now a days
@cheyenne111142 жыл бұрын
I've never seen this play be allowed to happen. It makes no sense to allow play to continue after the guy clearly gave himself up. A play similar to this happened in a Texans playoff game where Houston received the ball in the end zone and after some diddling The return Man tossed the ball at the referee. They called it a fumble but eventually decided he gave himself up. At the end of the day if the defender blows his ass up like he could have they're definitely throwing a flag and saying he gave himself up.

A player is only considered down in college or high school if any body part that is not their hands or feet touch the ground. You can use the ball against the ground to keep your balance so, it is not considered down just because he put the ball on the ground. Now if he had released the ball onto the ground that would be a fumble, but because of the fumblerewski play from the Nebraska/FSU bowl game, intentionally fumbling is against the rules.
