Mate it’s not about the overall free kick count. It is about the free kick that was paid and that alone. He was halfway through trying to handball off after taking a few steps. This is a clear free kick any day of the week

If one team is more undisciplined on the night and making worse decisions (like Mills), then the other team is going to make them pay like Eddie did. It’s as simple as that. It seems you also don’t understand the significance of this 50m penalty. 6 minutes left in the game and it resulted in a goal for the swans bringing the margin to 3. One kick could change the result. However, if the umpire had called it correctly, a free to Eddie could have just as easily resulted in a goal to the crows. I just find it funny that you ignore a blatant free kick that was also pointed out by the commentators and act like it wasn’t important and that we shouldn’t complain because of the free kick count which is a reflection of how much better Crom played than the swans.

@@alex777a a 50 metre penalty was the correct call. The umpire hadn't called play on, therefore the Crow man was infringing upon the player who had taken the mark. Umpires control the rules of the game, and I'm glad he had the guts to make that tough call as he saw it

What a game! As a Swans fan it had me on the edge of my seat knowing that a top four spot was up for grabs. We have beaten all the top teams such as Geelong and the Giants, although you could argue that they had some of their best players out when we played them and were having a few bad games. But the big test was the Crows. Top of the table, in form, smashing teams 140-40, they are a fantastic team. The Swans came down to Adelaide Oval, faced their full team and beat them in front of their home crowd. Yes it was only a 3 point win and their was the controversial 50m free kick near the end of the game but in the end, a tense game, end to end, best attack in the comp against the best defence in the comp and the Swans came out on top against the odds. Good signs for the Swans. Top 4 and more importantly Flag hopes are looking good. We refuse to remain nothing more then runners up for a second season. Well Adelaide were the better team in general play, played harder, dominated possession and won the free kick count, but were awful in front of goal. And the Betts call was the turning point of the game. Despite the loss they already had 1st place on the ladder sewn up so it was not the end of the world at that point ..... well there was always the GF plus 2018 and 2019.

Azza Huss - I dont follow either team, but thats irrelevant. As I recall, last time Adelaide played in a grand final they won back to back flags - so they've won 2 out of 2 GF's. Swans are 2 from 5 in the same time frame - BTW, those 2 wins were by small margins. Lucky to have won any IMO

It wasn't a poor decision on Eddie he marked it then didn't step off his mark and Eddie tackled him also the ref didn't blow the whistle to kick so that's my opinion

Adelaide are still the team to beat. Why? They were all over Sydney 3/4 of that game & beat them in nearly every stat. Although last night's goal kicking was terrible from Adelaide, if they were to kick straight.. they would have belted Sydney. Usually they do kick a lot better so yes, I believe Adelaide are still the premiership favorites. HOWEVER I do not believe it lost them the game. It reduced the chances of course... but with a couple minutes to go... they were in front & in control... all over Sydney. But that stupid 50m call turned the game in the dying minutes & gave Sydney the win. The player had played on, well off the mark. Technically it should have been played on rather than a free. That was the umps fault & I've seen this happen a lot in recent years, but they had always let them play on even though they took their time blowing the whistle. People are too busy complaining how Crows won't win at the MCG. I have to ask, how many times have Sydney choked at the MCG in the past decade? Adelaide are quite good at the MCG. Enough said.

Josh Miller How many times have Adelaide choked in Finals and not even made the Grand Final in 19 years. In all those years there were much better squads. Especially in 05 and 06 when Riccuito, Macloed and Goodwin were in their prime and even 2012 is worth a mention. This year won't be any different.

Swans played one good quarter, got dominated for 3 Quarters. Lost every single stat apart from tackles, clearances and Clangers. They were made to look very average, a few dubious free kicks basically saved them. If you are a swans supporter you should be angry with that performance, you aren't premiership material you simply got lucky
