@MrAhuapai10 ай бұрын
Key takeways from the game for me - a near loss at this stage of preparing for the RWC is much more valuable to the ABs progression than a blowout - if the Wallabies play with the level of cohesion and agression like they showd in the first half they will surprise a few teams in their side of the draw. - the level of relief from fans when Smith and then Mounga make the field says a lot about how valuable they are. Conversely not convinced about Smiths backup - Is Savea the most consistent player in world rugby - Dmac has had better days but his versatility will mean he gets to go -Unlike the Springboks ,the ABs now would be are pretty sure about their best 23. -
@Cabolt4410 ай бұрын
+ Smith isn't even our best number 9, that's actually TJ Perenara - but he's been hosed out by the NZRU for his very public stances on the LGBTQI+ community and Ihumātao. So instead we get the actual backup as our main (Aaron Smith), and the back ups, back up as back up (Christie). + The ref was actually abysmal, and helped a lot of the advantage for the Wallabies in that first half (typical French ref). Line out throws, scrums and breakdown plays - majority of which went to Australia in that first half. + Savea is basically the same consistency machine as what Richie McCaw was for the ABs. + DMac could only play what was in front of him - not helped by the poor go ahead by the forwards (like Taukei'aho and Laulala) + The "best 23" will actually have to change each game, since (being a World Cup), we don't know how conditions will change. + Red Card ruling will mess up a lot of teams. Reffing of today's calibre is going to be the norm - so navigating that (for all teams) will be key to RWC 2023.

That was a good game. For both nations really. we got through in the end but it was far from convincing man MacKenzie had a shocker

DMc is an impact player, great pace off the mark with a tiring defence and can cover 10 and 15. He's not an international standard starting 10. Has to be in the 23

@@arrongoodwin3339 I absolutely agree. Losing Richie after the RWC is going to hurt us, and Aaron Smith even more. We are weaker in those positions than we have been for a long time.

brilliant performance . wallabies are too good in th first half and in the last minutes they equalised the scoreline. good luck all blacks . also congrats for the win abs . good luck for the both teams in the world cup.

I was hoping for a game like this..for wallabies to lead in the first half.Just to test the ABs if they can make a comeback..and indeed they did come back! Well done!! Aussie's played bit more better in this game.. don't give up yet!I love watching the ABs vs Wallabies rugby matches!💪💯

Australia hasn't and further wont compete with NZ and soon the rest of the countries in Union. Rugby league has taken over and the pacific brothers(bizza, critta etc) are a big reason why. Hopefully the international level of rugby league also continues to grow as that's where Australia is focusing at the moment.

Finally the Aussies show up. Why has it taken so long? The Southern Hemisphere teams need you to perform for the good of all, so it's great to see. Now stand up and go again. Some great debut performances for the ABs and a never say die attitude. A good game for them and to build for the French and SA teams. I'm still worried about the depth of the AB squad if Whitelock and Retallick are injured, but starting to see new blood in the squad is great news.
