As a Wallaby fan, I was surprised that the AB's took their foot of the throat at then end. At least that's how it felt sitting in my lounge chair. Not a bad effort by the Wallabies. I hear you, I'm not sure what it is but referees are dictating games and not in a good way. They have match officials but they still get so much wrong, tons of forward passes, offsides, lying on the wrong side etc. Players are clearly obstructing after each ruck or illegally clearing out as well. its painful. In the good old days, someone cheated, you could police it, now you have to do the same in a race to the bottom. Nothing against either team but its just not fun to watch.
@TC-ic7pw3 жыл бұрын
it's just got boring, the collision is a mess, when a player runs into you and they have dictated the point of contact like ya man did to Retallic today, how can one avoid making contact to the head, players getting red cards for reckless more than malicious high contact, breakdown is a mess and the laws are not consistent and depends on the ref, and it maybe old school but the mongrel has gone out of the game. The red card that the aussie wing got against france recently really sums it up for me, sure it was a high but ffs a red card? Trust me I understand we have to be wary of players welfare, but it's a contact sport and if you play it you have to expect a bit of reckless contact.
@TC-ic7pw3 жыл бұрын
@@leonrobinson2053 agree 100% I am from the old school era,l, and if players were constantly off side you dealt with it. It just frustrates me watching players milk reckless contact in every game, it's a fast game and there are a lot of unavoidable collisions now that were once acceptable but are now red/yellow cards. The ABs were offside so much today and from what I remember it's not that hard to remedy, you just made more effort to hold your run. We were lucky to win that game today, but hopefully it's just cobwebs
@leonrobinson20533 жыл бұрын
@@TC-ic7pw I agree, player safety is important but there is a clear difference between is accidental, what is reckless and what is malicious. You know playing against people, whos trying to be malicious and who just made a mistake. You cut a guy some slack or give him a late hit for a mistake but you tap dance all over the other bast$£d at the next ruck he's in. I've been watching a lot of the Lions games and its like the ref is handing out cards like sweets sometime and other times not. The game will never be perfect but all last year i barely watched any rugby except maybe the London Irish/Harlequins/Japan who played brilliant/hard rugby, like its supposed to be.

Interesting comparison to the Boks Lions game. So much energy displayed in Capetown. Have difficulty thinking the AB’s will compete against a more physical game .
@MrMcChez3 жыл бұрын
You're joking, aren't you? After the first 30 seconds of the second half 'the water boy' had to take to the field for the obligatory 2 minute break to get ready for a scrum. I don't know how long the game in South Africa took to play overall, but if they weren't on the field for 5 - 10 minutes longer each half than the NZ game, I'll be surprised. Every scrum - every line-out, required 4 attendants to run on the field to hold up play. That plus a camera focused ref made the game so stop start, it was a joke. Yes the South Africans were physical. You're dreaming if you think they'll be able to be that physical against an AB team that'll move them around as quickly as the ABs and won't play the 'water boy's game'.

what was Dave Rennie thinking keeping Toomua and Reece Hodge on the bench until 60 plus minutes. you are playing against the all blacks not the french. bad game management by the wallaby coaching staff. they could have easily won if they pulled the correct strings at the correct time.

Exactly!! AB's after a rubbish first half, not kicking for territory in obviously slippery conditions with a wind at their backs, finally get their shit together and are starting to look ominously good, getting out to 33-11(? whatever) and threatening to put 50 on them, he takes his most effective forwards off and replaces them with.....jokey Ta'avao and tame Tuipulotu FFS!! This was a lesson in terrible tactics and game & bench management!
