Great composure and adjustment to stick to your systems BFs. Took the brunt of the US (post-red carding) onslaught and came back to take control of the match rather convincingly. The difference between a yellow and red card should be determined by the fact of it being either intentional or careless as opposed to accidental. The fact that another player was involved does not make it any less punishable
@roberts5539
@roberts5539 10 ай бұрын
i think it was the level of danger involved. Face to face is pretty much an unintentional head butt, dangerous for both players, so careless. The other one was shoulder to side of face. The result of getting sandwiched. Neither intentional or careless, and less dangerous.

I thought Chelsea Bremner was an unsung hero. She made a lineout steal, made a huge difference in the power of the scrum (locks provide much of the pushing power in a scrum) and made a lot of hard yards carrying the ball. I notice the scrum victories started coming for NZ once the 1st choice forwards came off the bench.

I don't want to sound like I am mansplaining anything but I do know a little about tackling. Your traps and shoulders and arms are what you should use for tackling... You pick a style of tackle you want to do with those tools, and then you execute that tackle while getting your head out of the way. I understand that often you only get a split second to decide what tackle you want to try, but every option should include you getting your head out of the way.

Playing like the world champions they are. The Black Ferns are all class. Being a player down actually made this game more interesting. Why world rugby not bringing in the 20 minute red card is beyond me, it's been trialled at the highest level and so many red cards are completely unintentional.
@bremCZ
@bremCZ 10 ай бұрын
@@JaemanEdwards If you position yourself poorly when you have time to position yourself well and you contact the head, a card is appropriate. It's only a rugby indicent of either player changes direction at a speed or time that makes the reaction almost impossible. That's the mitigating factor. Had the player been falling in the tackle, I'd then call it a rugby incident.
@bremCZ
@bremCZ 10 ай бұрын
@@IronmanKiwi I'd say in the professional game just get rid of the onfield red card altogether and just have every yellow referred for review and have the option of the upgrade to 20min red card or a full red card. If someone has a complete meltdown a full red card is sometimes appropriate.

much of what folks are describing as the US playing better in the first half especially was actually absolutely abysmal refereeing- I'm not arguing the red card, it was in the end a fair call although the yellow for the US for a similar offense, downgraded from red because a second tackler was considered mitigation which in fact it was not as it did not cause the ball carrier to significantly drop in height nor did it impede the angle and sight of the offending tackler, should also have been red- however the US were constantly allowed to be offside and often entered mauls from the side which was similarly ignored- indeed the second US try, from a so-called "quick tap" by the US #7, wasn't even tapped (see minute 4:21 on this video), and ref missed it- that being said, Ruahei was certainly the steadying influence needed before halftime and the senior players subbing in certainly made the difference, but too important experience gained for the starting lineup not least "guess what, we're a player down, deal with it"

@@okbutthenagain.9402we did exactly that last year and won the world cup for it remember? Also we usually don't have to play against the ref and without a halfback at the same time as we play England.

This wasn't the BF #1 line up at the beginning, but still kicked ass

@JaemanEdwards Look at the top womens players in the US right now are Polynesian. Majority of the USA women's team should be players from Lindenwood and Life. Don't know how players from IV league schools get in over Lindenwood when their schools play lesser competition and quite frankly aren't anywhere as good. The D1 elite All American team every year are basically an All Poly team. Select them. Too much politics and favoritism in the selection process

The ladies skills have improved so much over the years it’s great to watch but union and it’s rules have become a joke. Red cards for a head clash fml

Dont know what USA coaching staff was thinking with US number 11. Cannot pass left...cannot pass right...cannot tackle...she can only run.

I dislike the video production, you left too many key moments out and makes it hard to really appreciate key plays. Great game, though.

NZL played incredibly well. Hard to beat a team coached by a Hansen.
