Excellent victory for The Red Roses over the Ferns. Shame the New Zealand people did not choose to watch these matches in bigger numbers. I thought The Land of the Long White Cloud loved Rugby like no other Nation?

There's your answer from your two replies, chauvinism and arrogance, they have it spades in NZ. Womans Rugby has been around longer in the Northern Hemisphere🤣 And a red card for a high tackle on a player who didn't have the ball. Yeah we should just get over it just like New Zealanders would do🤣

@@DarkMoonWayfarer Except Lydia did not tackle Woodman no arms out no wrap, and her head was up because she wasn't tackling. And Woodman was in control of the collision, her swan dive at the end was most impressive, good luck with her acting career. She certainly had the HIA assessor fooled, that is not a medical examination it's a series of questions.

*Here's my take of the Black Ferns status. The loss to the French and the English teams brought to light some common prevailing issues affecting their game that need to be addressed: 1. wrong game plan made by the general; 2. playing the game at the wrong side of the field; 3. far too many forced, but avoidable, mistakes; 4. deteriorating strength of character affecting team unit.* *1. What is this lopped kicking at OWN SIDE OF THE FIELD all about???? Why is the possession being kicked away????? That reflected well in the statistics at end of the game, which corresponded with the points on the board!!!* *2. Playing the game at or from own side of the field, is reminiscing of the World Cup game where the efficiency of the inside half is now completely absent!!! Kick the long ball into the opponents half and move the team forward to defend and force mistakes there!!! The French and English team did the same strategy against the Black Ferns - and damn it, it always worked!!! Playing the game in the red zone area to your tryline, MUST be a strategy to adopt going forward!!! They said Stacey Fluhler's try in the World Cup was awesome - it was, and spectacular. But have a look at the team unit try from the BF's try line JUST BEFORE half time - that was the best for me!!! That try was made possible by the efficiency of the inside half distribution. It's under the surface now, and needs to be addressed IF YOU STILL WANT TO PLAY FROM YOUR OWN HALF - and it's not helping out, when lopping the possession away in your own half. There were two English tries that resulted from this kind of crazy strategy being adopted yesterday!!!!* *3. The majority of the team were not focused and not in the right frame of mind yesterday. It was glaring to see some 'panicky' play being demonstrated, which led to instinctive passes that should have been held up; held balls being ripped off; breakdown turnovers that shouldn't be; set piece turnovers and lineouts that shouldn't be; dropped balls at key times..... The team unit skills need to be upgraded!!!* *4. Granted that many of the players have not had sufficient exposures! But replacing them can knock their self-confidence down! There were no English tries in the fringes. Mererangi Paul needs to mark her own woman forthwith, and not to worry about the other BF's marked ones. Twice, she let through Abby Dowd - and that's not good. A reflection against exposure and failure of team unit defence strategies around that area. The Black Ferns need fast running wingers. If the current inside and outside center can bang through the opposition, but can't run faster from their side of the field, get aggressive fast running speedier athletes into the wingers at the fringes!!! Get DuPlessis up to speed. The Black Ferns managed to have a working backline with a speedier runner outside center and a defence buster inside center, flanked by aggressive speedier wingers in the World Cup. The same formula was seen in the ABs - like the speedier Tana Umaga in the outside center with Ma'a Nonu busting defence runner in the inside, or the speedier Conrad Smith in the outside with Ma'a Nonu in the inside!!!* *Decision making with lopping away possession; Long kicking to keep the game played at opposition's half; Individual defence and skills upgrade on offence; and, psychological ultra focus at all times of the game!!! THESE ARE THE AREAS THE COACHES NEED TO WORK HARD ON FOR THE BFs development towards the World Cup 2025 - I reckon!!!*

@@DarkMoonWayfarer Definitely agree to that. There is no doubt the newbies require more exposure and cohesion! I still prefer Mererangi Paul's exposure in big games - she's the only speedster winger with Tui in the squad, as they slowly ease in Mataele to cement the position through competition! I still like Vahakolo in there at the wing, BUT for me, she is not a speedster and she showed it clearly in the Pacific Comp against Canada, when she had a clear run to the tryline, and failure to catch up on the French Winger two weeks ago. Vahakolo could be a scrum loosie with her runs, but her work rate there may not be up to standard required. We need speedsters at the wings, as Brunt and DuPlessis are improving with their distribution. They're going through a phase, and it would be exciting to see them mature into their BIG games with attacking and defensive skills. The team were simply outmuscled last night.

@@DarkMoonWayfarer I agree with your analysis! Leti Iiga and hopefully, Portia Woodman would be able to wind up into the Black Ferns again. I believe Dumant can be able to improve on her outside half role though, particularly on her decision making and kicking game. Her game as first five works well with teams that aren't as hardened as that of the French and English, she just needs to improve her skill set around these areas, I reckon! Patricia is a great player that fits into any backline position. Georgia Ponsonby has been surprisingly had an off day - but her focus and work rate in the breakdown is extremely high. Perhaps, she needs a little rest to re-focus, but she's an asset, methinks!! And I agree about Ngan Woo - she's way more aggressive and have has a much higher work rate on the field than Charmaine Smith who took up her space in the BFs. Love Luka's smart play. The BFs need more time in the gym...those big English girls were just imprresively ultra fit throughout the 80mins - heck, have you seen that Cockayne??? She has lost a lot of weight since the World Cup!!!

@@user-xb8tc3tc8t So your view on the winners' worthiness means the laws should be applied differently? Also, if a team plays the wrong game plan for the conditions and opponents, turns the ball over 19 times including 12 knock ons, doesn't take the points on offer and then kicks 50% of their kicks is the better team? And if the "better" team does this then the TMO is a cheat for making the right decision?

Where are you reading this, Ellie Kildunne was unlucky in that they were not tries, but they were close, a toes width in one case. "It's hard to hear yourself think" no mention from English fans on this page, why would there be the reasons for the tries being disallowed were obvious. What Eli did show was her clear talent and athleticism. Seems your comment was disingenuous.

Congrats to the England girls, outplayed the Black Ferns all over the park. I hate to say it, but our girls made alot of mistakes... Some to be fair, are coach and team momentum killers. They found themselves behind from the kick off, they let the england girls bully them, and scoreboard pressure didnt help . The BF leaders made crucial errors, missing touch from penalties, kicking possesion away, aimless kicking. The off loading needs to toned down, imo.. the trailer is the cleaner of the ruck and if they are passed the damn ball, who cleans the ruck now?? The game plan is too loose and a fast paced game needs big engines + fitness to maintain. We unfortunately made too many errors, our defence got caught on the ground to often, we couldnt number up and easy tries were scored. I know its easy to point out the obvious problems, but sometimes its harder to make the adjustments as individuals. BF squad now have the opportunity to address the negatives and cliche flip them and make them their strengths. The BF will be back and i hope they enjoy the well deserved break. Big Fan of the Black Ferns, always will be!

You didn't lose the game in the backs, you lost it in the front 5. Ain't too many 7's stars play in the front 5. The seven's stars will come and save us, is the sort of magical thinking that stops you addressing the issues. Your domestic rugby doesn't provide the opportunities to develop battle hardened tight 5 players. You need to address that. Tactical kicking also seems to be mostly absent from the NZ women's domestic game. I'd do a coupe of things: Firstly, I'd give Simon Middleton a call and give him a consultancy roll. He built the English structure from the ground up; secondly, I'd let some of the younger fringe players have the opportunity to spend the summer up in England and France to experience how they play and train. The Roses made huge development strides from the start of professionalism in 2018. Not only do you need to catch up on that, they are continuing to improve. As much as I enjoy the rose's performance, what I want to see is a top tier of 10 or more teams all playing at that level. The big immediate issue you have, is that the teams you face locally are all still amateur, and show no sign of changing. You can beat them without changing your your approach.

@@DarkMoonWayfarer Almost there without actually grasping it. Roses also had a new coaching team, only the forwards coach acting up to head coach was retained. The reason for the disparity in caps is not about new players, the roses were missing 10 of their 23 from the WC final. It's about the amount of rugby that gets played. Since the Ferns started playing internationals in April 1991 they've played 122 matches The Roses have played 305 over the same period. They are always going to have more caps and have more experience, they simply play more 15's rugby. And few, if any, go off playing 7's.

If you think that's all England do, then you've not been watching them. The pack may be powerful, but it's also mobile, athletic and skillful. Their back three (perm any 3 out of the 7 or eight players they rotate in those rolls) is the best is the world, they have 5 players who can slot in at 10 and control how the game is played (and more importantly where). They also have, when she recovers from a neck operation, the best 13 in the world.

🤣NZ set several times, to attempt to do what England had been doing, "Same Old Stuff" they simply could not budge the England pack and had to play the ball, and lacked the ability out wide to do anything with it. So the BF's would love to do the "Same old stuff" if they only could. And to get into the position where you can do the, same old stuff, requires several phases executed error free, so the same old stuff, or the finishing maul is just a small part of the Englands game. And as witnessed in the last world cup against Canada, England can run the ball from their own deadball area to score a try, if they need to.

@@thomasmain5986 So England work to their strengths which is their forward play, same as all English rugby teams have done over the decades and still do, nothing new with that !! It'd be good to see some flair from time to time out along the backline however that's just not there is it.

@@stevehughes1510 Not what I said at all NZ attempted to do the same old thing and failed several times. Your saying England are doing the "Same old thing" well so are NZ but they are just not good enough, they succeeded against France to maul it over the line. But not against England, the England pack were to strong and to well drilled. Turns out the the "same old thing" is just good rugby, in all the decades I have watched and played, the eight forwards knew they could win matches, and often did, backs often reduced to freezing spectators. But that's rugby and England can spin it when they need to they have strike weapons out wide, as good as any international side. And I forgot to add they have kickers, some of the best in the World.
