Development takes time. In this era of squeezed finances, expanding the competition to include pacific nations may be an important steo forward.

I'm worried about the future of this competition, blow-outs in every game, the opening round game last night at Eden Park was also one-sided, not to mention the half empty stadiums, it seems as if people are losing interest in our national sport, our national sport which we can't even watch live on free-to-air TV. SANZAR must losing money trying to keep this competition afloat.

When I see (the few) fans that are celebrating blowing team out like this over and over I just question how oblivious they are on the fact that SRP will fail to gain any more interest and attention. I've been trying to watch as many games as I can but recently this season has been just like the past seasons with the same teams winning nearly every week by 40+ so I've turned off a few of the games by halftime.

@khankake9576 The problem is that 2 of the SANZAAR countries aren't involved in the Super Rugby competition anymore and you can see the difference that has made in the quality of the rugby and the gulf between the teams currently. However, I must admit that the Aussie teams are doing heaps better this season which can only bode well for their national team. I know people will say that even with the South African teams and Argentinian team involved the kiwi sides (mainly the Crusaders towards the latter part of the competition) were still mainly winning, but the games were tighter and they brought a different style/ type of rugby and rugby player. Plus the South African broadcaster (Super Sport) helped from a financial perspective. I reckon Super Rugby will come right again, give Moana and Fijian Drua a couple more years and we'll see the returns (crossing fingers).

@@garethsvencorder966 NO the SA broadcaster in its last 3-4 seasons with SANZAR was NO longer the top revenue earner - it was NZ! Why do you think SARFU went north - because of the historical lucrative French tv deal in 2015! It was all about business for the SARFU and kudos to them as it was a smart move! I have said this and will say it again - NZ and Australia need to include Samoa and Tonga into the Super Rugby and take the Rugby Championship to a 7-8 team competition - NZ, SA, Australia, Argentina, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Japan! Yes it may blow out badly for some of these teams in the first season or two BUT it will come right! This present product is NOT working!

Looks like strength and conditioning has failed Moana Pasifika with the flimsy defense, I can see why there's calls for Samoa and Tonga to have their own teams like the Drua despite the tokouso vibes here.

In theory, creating teams for the Islanders to play at a higher level (and get paid for it for a change) was sound. But the level of effort they are putting out, week after week, is not consistent. Why is that? If the Drua and Moana teams fail, they won’t get a second chance. This competition is clearly struggling to put bums in seats. Maybe ask the rugby supporter community what’s going on, because the current situation is unsustainable.

Apparently, McKenzie is, according to a lot of pundits, not the man for the All Blacks 10 job. Too small, too easy to shut down, too easy for top International teams to read his play, blah, blah, blah. Well, for someone who doesn't deserve the AB's 10 jersey, he seems dam near unstoppable to me. I guess though, in this day and age, it is not trendy to be cheering for the little white boy. A good game for Moana is catching a pass. Seriously what a disgrace. Unfit, unstructured, can't tackle, always offside because too lazy to get back. Dump them, they bring zero to the comp, just fat lazy has-beens stealing another payday. Better to try raw island talent, same result but at least they will be passionate.
