I refused and ask the lazy laborer who will take responsability if the slab can't carry 20 to 25 tons of bricks at one unseported space. So ja if you can not calculate that you must just carry the bricks up wheel barrow by wheel barrow and spred bricks evenly where they build. That is all you can do otherwise go studdy then you are in charge and know about load bearing. Stupiddety and lazyness can kill people.

Sometimes the so called Professionals don't listen to people on the ground.I was a Professional now on pension and I learned the most from the people on the ground not just from text books.

...according to the people on the ground, what should be the size and spacing for columns designed to carry a 5 storey apartment building with a double basement level and no use of load bearing brick walls?

Usually, these buildings collapse when the building contractor did not follow the struct instructions of the engineer regarding the binding guidelines of the steel at the ground level section of the pillars. This would not have been negligence on the part of the structural engineer, nor the steel supplier, who always follow rules regarding this. 1 inch of steel wiring not bound correctly or at the exact overlap length can cause an entire building to collapse. The onus falls on the building contractor to follow the guidelines set about by the engineer. Suspect there was an error in calculation somewhere, or just blatant neglect/ignorance.

BEE is supporting foreigners. 😂
@MissSlenda7 ай бұрын
All companies do that now. This is a sad reality. They feel South Africans are too expensive and always on strike and expect people to work for cheap labor. Why do you think they all are fighting for foreigners in this country to stay and take the Minister of DOHA to court every week. Even our own politicians are fighting for them. We South Africans are not loved by our own leaders. No wonder the disrespect from our neighbors.

Mate, like every caring person, I want to know the truth. If this person realised the pillars were not load bearing and he had the expertise - why did he allow himself and his colleagues to venture into an unsafe building. I will not let anybody on my site if I suspect any compromise in building regulations - in one aspect you are right - S A sinking - but I spent 40 years of my life trying to keep it afloat.

How does a Malawian become a "Maseko"??🤣🤣 Mr Journalist.....ask that guy that question...... Condolences to the families
@muzorewaratshikuni79577 ай бұрын
Easy - maybe he had a Nguni father, say a South African from Maseko family but a Malawian father. So he grew up in Malawi at his mother's family and when grown up, he moves to SA, the land of his father's family - that's one way Malawian can become a Maseko, or rather, a Maseko can become a Malawian

Contractor, Procurement team and the person that approved the candidate as the right person for the job must answer, you can clearly hear that his gentleman being interviewed is not qualified to be on that site late along to work there. That has been the challenge in South Africa that, companies look for cheap labour and compromise safety and quality to save costs.
