I agree with Georgia, this shouldn't be all we will see of him at 135. Win or lose, I want to see him against all other fighters in that weight class. I also agree with Devin, he should try to stay at 135, if not just to prove that he would have beat Vasiliy. Although there are other quality or promising fight left at 135, only his body and weight-cutting will dictate what will happen there. Imagine Haney at 140? 🤯 What a healthy display of bondage and respect between both camps at the end. Sometimes, the most human of actions take place after a fight than inside the ring, and this seemed one of them. 🖖

Devin gonna get hurt at 140. He has no power at 135, he's not have anything to keep guys off him at 140 and won't have the length advantage for every fight. Although I guess there's a chance he's cutting so much that it's damaging his power so he might be a little stronger at 140 but that's not usually how it goes when guys go up.

@@CornPopWazABadDude I agree that power usually doesn't translate when climbing up, but the comfort of working less on the cut and focusing on power and the boxing overall can compensate. Haney may not be the taller, lengthier, stronger man at 140 (or whatever other weights he can climb up later on), but those at 140 now are not necessarily that supremely more skillful as to say he has no chance- especially if he acclimates to the weight properly. The big dogs at 140 should be off his game plan now. But he should be able to do some stuff against men like J. Pedraza, T. Lopez, S. Martin, R. Garcia, V. Postol, G.A. Russell Jr, et al. meantime. But you did understand what I mean by imagining him at 140, meaning, yes, 140 will be MUCH harder for him to compete at. Still, if he can beat V. Lomachenko at 135 THEN climb up, he may fare better having known he beat a very tricky, highly-skilled former 3-belt holder. The mental fortitude and confidence a victory such as that one would help him know anything is possible for him, allowing a more prepared move upstairs. 🖖 I should also mention that Haney's speed, timing and movement has, so far, been enough to discourage attacks from his opponents. Some of them, at least. The way he neutralizes their game plans with sometimes just a jab can be enough to work at any weight. But if he works on his 2- which looked effective and strong last night- and if he studies his foes, he can still be very successful. I wouldn't count the young man out at 140, at all, just because of power. Skills do pay the bills.

Loma dominated the second half of that fight... He blew his shoulder out 2nd Rd that's called a reason, not an excuse. He took a few rounds to figure out how to fight with it/if it was going to even last.. And once he did he owned Teo. And that injury is painful af. He had surgery the next day. Pics of him in hospital with shoulder all stitched up all over the web.
