@maniac31737 ай бұрын
That's the logical thing to do. She won't need the home once she passes on. This is common practice throughout the country and part of the financial assessment by care providers. The alternative is for family to care for her, and that way the home remains and can be passed down the family.

There are financial support from the local council and NHS which are assessed by financial and needs. Some councils can contribute as much as £600 a week or more. If financial assistance is not available then it's very likely due to the elderly being quite well off. It sure does look like an astronomical amount but often not realised the amount of time and care that is provided. On average 3 to 4 nursing staff and admin, along with medical equipment are funded for with that figure. If you do the maths it really is not enough to provide quality care even then. A carer alone should expect to be paid around the £30k+ region but reality is more than one carer is required.

Riddle me this; If immigration is sooo great for the countries economic health and wellbeing then why did we have years of forced governmental austerity policy inflicted on us, directly followed by the current never ending inflation and cost of living crisis? Where is the great economic bonanza from all these decades of this mass immigration? Because it seems to me like we are all slowly getting poorer and poorer as time goes by. Although, the rich do seem to be getting richer.
@robertvel40517 ай бұрын
Because immigration isn’t the only factor that affects an economy. You hit the nail on the head with austerity that has caused the economy to stagnate. Also if the migrants are not allowed to work then they cant contribute to the economy.
@ryanyates53657 ай бұрын
Immigrants aren't great for your own personal wealth unless they're working for you or contributing a lot in taxes. They're a direct competitor for jobs, I get it. However, they're also not the reason we're all getting poorer. If you're born here, you're educated, vaccinated, maybe some child benefits, maybe ongoing treatment for a condition or two, maybe you go to university: add that all up, and that's a lot of "debt" you or I owe the treasury before you've even earned a penny at the age of 21+. Then we expect a state pension on top of that. Economic migrants and asylum seekers that come to the UK have had none of their education, health, benefits, etc paid for by the UK - they literally owe the UK nothing. So when a migrant arrives on a boat to earn whatever they can and live a better life, just remember how much we (as British born citizens) owe to the state, before we start pointing the finger at an immigrant whose cost of arrival is, at most, a fraction of the cost of running the rescue boat to drag them out of the English channel! That's why governments will never "take back control" of borders. They have plenty of control already (even in the EU!). They choose not to use it because the financial arguments for using it don't stack up.
@JonnyMc77 ай бұрын
You don’t get it because you’re not so bright then. Lots of immigrants haven’t been processed to work so haven’t been able to contribute and help economy. Tories crashed the economy causing austerity under funding public services wasting money on Rwanda scheme the list endless

Yes Krishnan, since those FIRST "Small Boats" or Coracles, arrived on this Green and, once PLEASANT land, all those Millennia ago, we, THE BRITISH, have been through MANY struggles, wars, and bloodshed, to establish a common ground, and a relative peace, LONG BEFORE any Brown People like your parents or grand parents began to arrive within the last 70-80 years, a relative BLINK of an eye in OUR History. We developed a common culture, common law, and a shared purpose to make this land the best it could be, just like other Mono Cultures, as are prevalent in India, Pakistan, China, and most African countries for instance. Since then, we have WELCOMED people, like you, from different cultures. On the understanding that they too would embrace what we have built, and help to maintain, and build upon it. And that Krishnan, has largely been the case, for a few decades. However, in the last 20-30 years or so, we have witnessed a change in our society, whereby a LOT of people who are now arriving here, have NO INTENTION to embrace our long estsblished culture, and indeed, seem hellbent on destroying all that we have achieved, causing chaos, abd conflict in their wake, even much worse in many cases. And THERE IS, overwhelmingly, one COMMON DENOMINATOR in all of it, those people, causing ALL of this Chaos, are people who look like YOU, Krishnan, or maybe those of a creed a few shades darker, but barely do they speak English as eloquently as yourself, well done you! So forgive us if we have the ability to PICK OUT, and RECOGNISE the Common Denominator, it might not be so easy, if it were not so GLARINGLY OBVIOUS! Racism is defined as "An irrational Dislike or Hatred of a people, based on their Racial Origin or Culture" It does not define RACISM as people who want to DEFEND their Race and Culture, from those who wish to infiltrate, and destroy it from within, which is EXACTLY what we are seeing now. And many studies have been done, and stats collated which COROBORATE that fact. You can clutch your "Race Card" and bang your fist as much as you like Krishnan, but the fact is, the REAL Racists, are those who do not share, nor want to embrace what is on offer here. So it is fair and fitting, that WE, who are the overwhelming majority, with a shared history and heritage stretching back THOUSANDS of years, REJECT the intentions of Newcomers, should we deem their intentions to be Destructive or Hostile, in any way shape or form. This is Britain, OUR Country, and OUR BIRTHRIGHT, the LEGACY left to us by our Ancestors. YOUR Legacy Krishnan, lies elsewhere!

For a presenter/reporter to ask what is the correct number for net migration is a stupid question. The answer can only be "It depends". You first of all have to ask how many people are needed to fulfill all the the jobs that we require to be done, then find the British people willing to do those jobs. You can adjust these by providing training, ensuring sufficient good pay & conditions etc. Then you see what is the shortfall. That is the number of immigrants required. It is a "how long is a piece of string question". For those who say they do not want any immigrants, just imagine that you will not be able to obtain any of the services that you require to maintain your lifestyle & you will realise what a ridiculous position that view is.

What I want to tell is that British people have always been known for their desire of freedom and independence. And what I believe is that all the people there should have own opinion on whom to choose during the election. Not depending on the media, not depending on their speeches. Follow your own heart and your own perception.

What a crappily edited debate highlights. Gurumurthy wasn't even shown introducing the participants. What a circus! Was it my imagination or did the Libdems get almost 6 minutes of these 16 minutes of highlights and the rest just coralled into the remaining ten? Not a well-managed situation. Maybe they should drop Channel 4 from the rosta of broadcasting these 'shows'.
